DCA vs. Six Flags Elitch Gardens

Was just at Elitchs today, so I kept an eye on the theming etc to compare it to DCA. Here's what I found:

No berm or hiding of the surroundings. You could see outside the park from almost every spot.

Poor layout: Starts with a cheap knock off of Main Street, about 1 block long. Confusing paths leading to dead ends.

Minimal trees and plants. This park is all concrete and very hot.

Music: blarring R&B from the 70s and 80s.

Themeing: shops and restaurants: those had theming- the rides and queues had none.

Atmosphere: peeling paint everywhere and gum stuck to just about everything.

Employees: Surly and unkept. Borders on rude.

Carny rides: aside from a couple of coasters, all the rides are flat carnical rides plus one carounsel and 2 water rides. One decent raft ride like GRR, but no themeing. Elitch's has a water park in side, however. A big plus on hot days.

Kiddie area: faded and flaking paint, no shade, low level quality carnival rides.

Food: Beer stalls amde to look like ...beer cans. Overpriced food and drinks. One or two sit down restaurants. Very overpriced.

Shops: Carnival junk! Cheap plush, temporary tattoos, etc.
No parade, cheap shows in cheaply designed venues. Extra charges for "premium" rides.
Cost $32.

In comparison, Six Flags Elitch Gardens makes DCA look like the beautifully detailed Disneyland Paris! (And of ourse, most of us would agree that DCA and WDSP rank among the bottom of the Disney Parks for theming, design, and execution.) So, this should tell you alot!

Reminded me what I hate so much about Paradise Pier...

It's a Six Flags park, what are you expecting?

Just look at sfmm, nothing there is special. When they build a new ride they have to build a huge bridge to get to it.

Re: DCA vs. Six Flags Elitch Gardens

Let me just say, Elitch Gardens is one of the worst Six Flags parks. Not saying Six Flags is very good, but you picked one at the bottom of the barrel to visit.

And when Toontown was built at Disneyland, they had to build under the railroad tracks to get to it. What's your point?

I'll be one of the first to agree about Six Flags' shorcomings. But come on folks, they had to build a bridge to get to a new area of the park? Oh they must not have planned at all. I bet a couple of 6 year olds designed the place.

Sounds EXACTLY like Paramount's Great America park in Santa Clara. That park was the worst I had ever been to. Worse than Knott's.

Re: DCA vs. Six Flags Elitch Gardens

I kind of liked Paramounts Great America! I lik eit way better than Knotts. When i went I found it clean and fun, the only thing lacking on their coasters are themeing but its a fairly good park i put it right next to DCA

Have you been to MM?

The bridge goes over a walkway, over a few small buildings over a bunch of dry dirt, and finaly to X

Parks like that are for the rides. Rides are the draw to the park, not the flower beds.

Ceadar Point and SFMM both have 16 rollercoaster, the most anywhere, and KNOWONE there is going to look at the flowers.

I think it's fair to compare the bottom of the barrel of Six Flags to the bottom of the barrel of Disney. Don't you?

Zing.

Of course, I'm just kidding.

And I agree that that bridge to X looks very poorly planned. It seriously looks like something a six year old might do in RCT.
