ANAHEIM, Calif. (August 21, 2008) – When the world’s most popular teenager turns “Sweet 16,” it’s cause to celebrate. And when that teen is Miley Cyrus – star of Disney’s “Hannah Montana” – there’s no better place to celebrate than at a Disney Park.
To honor the occasion and Miley’s philanthropic passion, Disneyland Resort in California has created “Miley’s Sweet 16 – Share The Celebration,” an unforgettable event for Miley and her fans that also will serve to recognize Youth Service America and help drive awareness of the need for youth volunteerism.
The Hollywood-style bash is planned for Sunday, Oct. 5, from 6 to 11 p.m., with ticket sales limited to 5,000 fans.
Tickets, priced at $250, go on sale at 9 a.m. PDT, Saturday, Aug. 30, at www.disneyparks.com/miley.
For Miley, the birthday bash is a once-in-a-lifetime event and she plans to make new Disney theme park memories during the evening. “I only turn 16 once, so it’s going to be an awesome party with my favorite rides, hanging out with friends, fireworks and more,” she said. “I’ll even get to sing a couple songs.”
The evening will celebrate Miley’s career as a Hollywood Records solo musical artist and as the “secret pop star” she portrays on the wildly popular Disney Channel series, “Hannah Montana.”
Miley’s Sweet 16 at Disneyland will feature a medley of party elements, large and small, that will allow guests to join in the celebration of Miley’s magical milestone. Special Party Zones will highlight the music and fun of Miley and Hannah Montana with themed activities and entertainment. Some of Miley’s favorite attractions will be open in each Party Zone, and the party will end with a bang as fireworks fill the Disneyland sky.
Sharing the Celebration with Youth Service America
In addition to all the birthday fun, Miley’s Sweet 16 will shine a spotlight on Youth Service America, an organization that seeks to improve communities by increasing the number and diversity of young people, ages 5 to 25, serving as volunteers. (For more information, visit http://www.YSA.org.)
In keeping with Miley’s passion for youth volunteerism, Disney Parks will make a significant contribution to Youth Service America.
With the organization’s involvement in “Miley’s Sweet 16 – Share The Celebration,” Miley said she hopes that other young Americans will be encouraged to volunteer in their own hometowns.
“The best part of the party is we’re going to recognize some really cool kids from Youth Service America who are giving back to their community,” she said. “That’s so awesome because I think it’s really important for kids like us to volunteer.”

I'm addicted to Disneyland. Disneyland hobbies are expensive. If I become a bum people are going to say "Don't give him money, he's just gonna use it on Disneyland."
Disneyland. My Anti-drug.

Miley Cyrus To Celebrate ‘sweet 16’ Birthday At Disneyland
People Magazine and Entertainment Tonight have announced that Miley Cyrus will have a big Sweet 16 Birthday Bash at Disneyland on Sunday, October 5th. It sounds like it's going to be a major production, with invited celebrities, a special fireworks show, and a concert by Miss Cyrus in front of the Castle.
There isn't much information about the impact to the park, but since they are going to be selling tickets for this event specifically, something tells me they'll handle this like a Pirates movie premiere and close the park early that day.
Regardless of how it is handled on the 5th, it should prove to be very exciting for a certain demographic of Disney fans. I am definitely not in that demographic however, and I'll be avoiding Disneyland that weekend.
However, I wish Miss Cyrus a very happy birthday, and I'm sure Disneyland will handle this major media event very well.

Found some info by actually reading further in the link I posted.
Here's info on the party...
"The celebration will be a Hollywood-style bash, planned for Sunday, Oct. 5, from 6 to 11 p.m., with ticket sales limited to 5,000 fans. Tickets, go on sale at 9 a.m. PDT, Saturday, Aug. 30, at www.disneyparks.com/miley."
Yup, sounds like a Pirates movie premeire set up to me. Disneyland probably opens early at 7:00am or so, closes around 5:00pm, and then lets 5,000 screaming teenage girls have the run of the joint for the rest of the night. http://www.ysa.org/
I'm definitely going to the beach that weekend.

You can't blame Disney for knowing how to use their popular products.
Next will be the Jonas brothers (or whatever they are called) TMZ has been giving them lots of air time and according to them are being described as the beatles of this generation

Is any of the money going to charity like the Pirates premier? Are the tickets going to be expensive like the Pirates premier too?

Note, Disney is not saying all money raised. If Disney sells out the event, that will be $1.25 million in ticket sells, then add on sells of food, merchandise, etc on the day of the event.
Cyrus will also use the party to highlight Youth Service America, a teen-advocacy group. Disney will make a “significant contribution” to the organization.
Currently, Disney is listing DL hours as 8 AM to Midnight that day, and DCA from 10 AM to 8 PM, of course those could change.
But I could see them having the event at DCA (The Disneyland Resort) and even Downtown Disney and/or the hotels.
They could close down the Hollywood Pictures Backlot or Paradise Pier area early. They have done this for other "private" events.
But nothing on the official website says Disneyland Park, JUST The Disneyland Resort.
Tickets will be $250 a person.Check out my photos at http://darkbeer.smugmug.com

And this happens to be the very popular unofficial Gay Day weekend...
http://www.gaydaysanaheim.com
Should be an interesting, and very crowded weekend.
The second weekend of HalloweenTime should bring in extra Annual Passholders, and it is too late to add the date as a "blockout" date.
Also looks like Disney will use this event as the kickoff of the 2009 marketing theme... "What Will You Celebrate" .Check out my photos at http://darkbeer.smugmug.com
