January 3, 2009: New Celebrate additions plus Paradise Bay Progress

    1. Vinylmation Parks has landed at World of Disney.
    2. Giant and small versions available.
    3. A look at some of the collection.

    1. For the WDWers here at MouseInfo a look at the Figment version.
    2. Also, I can't tell what this is supposed to be but he looks EPCOTish.
    3. The final one here is the Mansion wallpaper.

    1. Speaking of Mansion, I got a Save the Date reminder at the register.
    2. Swiss Family Robinson figure.
    3. The Platapi inside Small World have always been one of favorite characters inside the attraction.

    1. Lunch at Tortilla Jo's. The burritos were awesome.
    2. The Glazed-Chicken left much to be desired, though.
    3. (Failed?) attempt at artsy.

    1. Blue Sky Cellar with a somber sky looming over it... just for Majiku!
    2. Covers are for shade protection, not rain protection.
    3. Rain in the lagoon.

    1. Crush over the bay. A lot of people seemed to be really excited about this as they walked past. "Oh cool! Is that why it's empty!?"
    2. Closeup of the plaque.
    3. This is concrete.

    1. Rain and pumps and seagulls and stuff.
    2. Prep work is already underway, orange spraypaint has been marked in various spots around the lagoon.
    3. Perhaps marking locations for the new lighthouses that will be built for the show?

    1. Perhaps marking locations for new permanent equipment? The next few weeks and months should be fun!
    2. A final look into the bay.
    3. Face be gone!

    1. Awaiting Mickeyification.
    2. Backside getting some love too! Kinky.
    3. Out with the old, in with the new.

    1. A good DCA color... it reminds me of jumbo-sized electric-yellow Tweety plushes. Reference anybody?
    2. Refurb walls on the Fun Wheel side... just because.
    3. A look at ongoing work of the Midway Games redo.

Vague shapes and suggestions of what's to come are already visible.

Shouldn't be long now before even more character and life is added to the Pier! I think this is my highest score (on the right.) Need more practice.

    1. And I run... a flock of seagulls circling over DCA.
    2. DCA is coming along rather nicely.
    3. More decorative skeletal pieces are starting to spring up... the Pier is going to be such a different place when it's done!

    1. Another closeup of the GCH DVC construction.
    2. Snazzy billboard.
    3. Gloomy sky but sun was shining on the Matterhorn, pretty neat effect it looked a lot cooler in person.
    [break]

    1. New ticket media for Celebrate.
    2. Camera was just not picking up the wicked colors of the dark brooding sky.
    3. Sky all washed out.

    1. Bright pink lights are even brighter under gloomy skies.
    2. Another castle closeup.
    3. Small World Holiday near dusk.

    Download video!

    1. Not to great closeup.
    2. The accessible boat for Small World.
    3. Reflections of Winter.

    Download video!

    1. Angles make things more dramatic sometimes.
    2. Dinner at Steakhouse 55... you must try the 18oz Ribeye... WOW.
    3. Fruit cobbler... YUM.

    1. I love the vibe inside of Steakhouse 55.
    2. It's very masculine and very Walt.
    3. Not a fruit cobbler but quite the tart.

    1. Disney's California Adventure circa a long time ago.
    2. Tons of new 2009 merchandise available.
    3. The plain 2009 merchandise is mostly in a cerulean color scheme. Oooh cerulean, fancy, huh?

    Tons of year specific merchandise.

    1. The new Celebrate Everyday merchandise is mostly red.
    2. I actually really like this emblem on the sweater, it kinda reminds me of Party Gras although I'm not sure why.
    3. This one is kinda random... they're selling little packets of confetti... I guess it's so you can Celebrate... still pretty random, though. I bet custodial is stoked for this addition.

    1. Plush, toys, magnets, frames, etc etc etc.
    2. Logo on a lot of different clothes.
    3. I love this Matterhorn painting on the giftcards.

To conclude... a look at the new(?) Disneyland mousepads.

    THE END!

Epcot looking one is SMRT-1, a robot that was at Communicore. The Epcot flower logo is on his ear.

SMRT-1 greeted guests as they entered Communicore East, where Guest Relations is now. He was surrounded by phones and if you picked one up you could talk to him and he'd respond. He was one of the first (if not the first) interactive characters in the parks.

I figured those symbols on the ears were EPCOT logos, what's what made me think he was EPCOTish. Thanks for the info!
