June 11, 2009 - SUMMER NIGHTASTIC!

This update is comprised of photos from both Thursday and Friday evening. 1. Astro Orbitor was preparing for final testing before opening on Friday. 2. A shiny new color scheme adorns the structure but not all of the intricate animation details appear to have been restored. 3. In this shot, you can see the new checkered concrete pattern slowly taking over the land replacing the brick pavers that were installed just before the 50th Anniversary. Astro Orbitor Testing 1. Mitchell Musso from Disney Channel's Hannah Montana officially kicked off the new TLT Dance Club performing songs from his debut album. 2. The TLT Dance Club features video screens that give you information on how to text in your requests and dedications. Throughout the summer various bands and radio station DJs will attempt to bring the stage alive and get kids dancing. 3. Musso got a surprisingly warm reception, even he seemed surprise at the excitment from the crowds. Mucho Musso. 1. Mitchell Musso has left the stage. 2. Summer Nightastic had a mini little kick off in front of the castle. 3. Selena Gomez and Jennifer Stone from Wizards of Waverly Place helped Mickey Mouse officially kick off the event. Summer Nightastic Official Kickoff 1. The two starlets were presented with Sorceror's Apprentice hats and magic wands. 2. Selena Gomez did NOT want to be wearing that hat, her discomfort was mildly amusing. 3. Although he was absent for the official premiere to the public on Friday, Dumbo did grace the skies for the press preview on Thursday.   The fireworks end with a blast of confetti. Magical: A Fireworks Spectacular (Full Show) Part 2 of 2   1. Spotlights stretch across the sky for a while after the show to allow for some pretty photo-ops. 2. Thursday's performance was packed! 3. The press events were not over until well after the park had closed. Thursday, however, was also a Grad Nite so as Press were leaving, preparations were well under way with Grad Nite decorations going up.

1. Disney's Electrical Parade premiered at DCA with a new opening float featuring Tinker Bell. Tinker Bell continually sends off a swirl of Pixie Dust that swirls back past her float and continues swirling past the entire parade route to every float. 2. The Seven Dwarf's mine unit also returned with a brand new float. 3. Pleasure Island was also resurrected. If only the same could be said for Pleasure Island in Walt Disney World! Disney's Electrical Parade (Full Show) Part 2 of 2 1. The new Little Miss Matched store in DTD. This concludes the Thursday portion of this update. Welcome now to Friday... 2. ENTER THE DRAGON. The esplanade billboards promote Summer Nightastic with Maleficent and Elliot, Pete's Dragon. 3. Sleeping Beauty Castle honoring the Lakers in Purple and Gold. 1. Pixie Hollow Enchantment is another component to Summer Nightastic. The waters jump and dance over the walkway while sparkling lights in the trees and water give the area a shimmer of pixie dust. Pixie Hollow Enchantment (Full Show) Astro Orbitor was open on Friday. Astro Orbitor Open Fantasmic premiered with a new Tic-Toc Croc, a new Flotsam & Jetsam, but no new dragon. Fantasmic! (Full Show) Part 2 of 3  |  Part 3 of 3 1. Tinker Bell and crew were no longer doing greets in the later half of the evening. 2. Enchanted little Pixie homes. 3. I got a kick out of these Star Wars Muppets characters. 1. Celebrate shopping in a down economy. 2. If anybody would like to help bring Disney magic to my new apartment, these matching salt and pepper mills would be a lovely addition. They are $15 EACH (no discount for buying the pair) so they are a bit over priced. I'd still love a pair though! 3. Loved both of these little clip holders. The Hang Eight one is an adorable tribute to the old cartoon short and the directional post points you to the various Disney Parks around the world.
