I ordered one just to see what it would be like and it's too bad I'm going to be disappointed when it arrives. They should have made something truly exciting considering it's the 50th Anniversary.
I'm hoping the DVD (can't remember the name) that's coming out in July will be better than this.

What's wrong with the new Disneyland Resort DVD?
Our DVD finally arrived and it was no more than maybe a minute of two of information on it and that was all. I have heard of a few other people who had the same issue. I thought our DVD was broken but then I heard of the other people with the same problem. Anyone else have the same issue when theirs arrived?

Mine is about 8 min. long. I was surprised that it wasn't really very good. I really enjoyed the WDW DVD and it made me want to go there. The DLR DVD didn't inspire me very much. It's just an extended comercial.
I love Disneyland!!!!

Wow we didnt even get a full 8 minutes. Or maybe we did. it just seemed so short and we were so dissapointed that it could have seemed shorter. What a dissapointment!! The WDW DVD is awesome, full of information about the parks, resorts, rides, etc.....and it is long. What was the point of making this DVD? It really was like a commercial. We just threw ours out.

The DVD was just a bunch of old film segments from over the years slapped together with the annoucments of things new for the 50th Anniversary . It seemed very cheap and indeed had a feel of an extended commercial to it. The WDW was better, but that still was a little too fast pace for me.
If you looked closely when they announce Buzz Lightyear, you can see the Rocket Rods moving along the track when they showed the overview of Tomorrowland. Also, the castle wasn't even it's current colors and they used that cheap fade graphic where the old castle fades into the concept art...??

So is the WDW Vacation Planning 2 Disc DVD. And it actually has vacation planning information on it. Disneyland's does not. So if I wanted a Disneyland Resort 8 Minute Commercial With Minimal Information DVD, I would have asked for one. The WDW DVD is actually an effective planning tool, so naturally, people expected the same from the DL DVD. Hence the disappointment.

I agree with Goin2Disneyland. And I think there is another thread on this topic already. 8 minutes of recycled footage and no information to help me plan a vacation is a surprise. Disney's marketing is usually better than this. I don't even think they gave an 800 number, just a reference to the website. I don't expect an hour of new footage by any means, but when the DVD opens with bare text from the house that put the DVD together, that is not what we expect from Disney...even in its marketing materials.

This DVD not only does not serve its purpose, it probably hinders it. Whereas the WDW video will likely make me want to go to Disney World for the 50th, with its ~1 hour of footage, DL's DVD would make me not want to go to Disneyland, because it seemed like it was just as much a commercial for WDW as it was for DL. I'm glad WDW is getting several new rides for the 50th, but why does Disney feel the need to tell me about that at every possible instant. Who wants to see a video showcasing attractions they won't see on their upcoming trip to DL, while not showing the attractions they will see? And it wasn't FREE. Nothing is free. It comes out of the hotel and park ticket sales, so we are, inevitably, paying for it.
