    Question AP Hotel Discounts

I received a phone call this morning from my mom, who like myself, is also mega hot.

Anyway, she and my dad, Mr. Bob, have a convention down in Anaheim in March and are interested in staying at the GCH. My folks haven't staying in a Disney hotel in almost 10 years. My mom asked if I could use my Premium at the GCH to get a reduced rate and I told her have to talk to my people.

Has anyone ever done this before? If so, how would I go about making a reservation? How much of a discount can one usually get?

    Thanks, homies!

When I was planning our stay at GCH last Nov, I checked AP prices verses a package price and they were cheaper with a package(hotel+tickets) at the time. There is also AAA packages to consider as well. The AP price is cheaper than regular prices but I am not sure what the discount% is though.

We used our AP's to book our next trip at the Disneyland hotel. The wonderful CM who made the reservation also told us to call 30 days before, because if the rates drop, they will lower the rate we are paying. If the rates go up, we will still get the rate that we booked at. The discount we received was about 10%.

This worked out well for us price-wise... since we wanted to guarantee a disney view and booking through expedia or getawaytoday they couldn't guarantee us a park view.

If you have a Disney Visa card you can get a pretty good discount right now. I got GCH for $199 weekday in March.

Sorry to steal your post, OP, but how do you get the Disney Visa rate? Do you just call the hotel directly? Or online? Thank you!

    Info courtesy MouseSavers.com:

Disney's Visa Rates - Disney's Visa cardholders can stay at Paradise Pier from $109, Disneyland Hotel from $119 and Grand Californian from $199. Valid for arrivals through 3/2/06. Provide promotion code VCJ when making your reservations. Must use your Disney's Visa card for purchase. Rate based on standard room on Sunday-Thursday nights, subject to availability, and excludes resort fees and taxes. Weekend rates and other room rates will vary.

FYI, everything is subject to EXTREME availability. This means that if a convention books and picks up enough room nights, the discounted rates start disappearing. So you can't always follow normal patterns for when the parks are busy (the hotels could be full while the parks are empty... strange, but true).

I usually just book as soon as I know I'm interested, and call back once a week or so to see if the rates are any better. If they are, update your res. If not, no worries. Disney has a 72-hour cancellation policy, so just keep that in mind and you're set.
