I heard that sometimes DL opens 30 minutes early and I'm going on Tuesday so I'm wondering if this is true?

Only on days when the park opens later than 8am. It does not fully open though. Only Main Street stays open then at 8am they do the "rope drop." There is a rope at the end of Main Street by the Coke Corner that prohibits guests from moving past Main Street. The rope is removed when the park opens at 8am.

I'm addicted to Disneyland. Disneyland hobbies are expensive. If I become a bum people are going to say "Don't give him money, he's just gonna use it on Disneyland."

So they won't open Main Street early on Tuesday because the park opens at 8am?

Right. There's Early Entry but that's different. Early Entry is a perk that guests get when they book a Disney vacation package. I believe that starts one hour early. That too is not full open, either. I believe it's Main Street, Fantasyland, and a few rides in Tomorrowland.

Official Info on Early Entry:
Early entry is offered to select Guests of the Resort on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, one hour prior to scheduled Park opening. During Early Entry, Fantasyland attractions and store locations are open along with Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters, the Disneyland Monorail, and Space Mountain.

You sound surprised.
And early entry rocks, they have characters out then as well!Just because we're at war, doesn't mean we can't be civilised...
