We are planning to visit Disneyland for the Christmas and new year period. Does DL do anything special for Christmas Day and New Years Eve as well as the days between. Is this a very busy period we have checked availability at DL hotels and there is no availability so giving us the impression the park will be very busy. What is it like for eating during this period as here in the Uk Dec 25-26 Jan 1 are holidays and a lot of shops /
Restaurants are closed and the few that are open are generally booked up and charge up to three times the normal rate. what time does the park normally close on Christmas Day and New Years Eve?
Thanks for any info The Scream Team![]()

Watch the christmas parade, it is amazing, much better than their standard parade, much more magical.

Also make sure to hit IASW...that's pretty good but a long line most of the time but worth it.

its nice it can get very busy though! pack in some patience! but overall its a very magical time! love going during that time because everyday they have surprise performers. last year there was a cheer squad and it was very nice and there were even old ladies tap dancing! i loved it!

The parks will be extremely crowded. Plan on getting the parks before opening and staying late...but be prepared for huge crowds. Disneyland's Christmas celebration, "The Merriest Place On Earth", is colossal and a local tradition featuring the spectacular "Believe...In Holiday Magic" fireworks (culminating in a surreal snowfall on Main Street USA), the beautiful Christmas Fantasy Parade, the spooky Haunted Mansion Holiday and the delightful it's a small world Holiday. Both parks are decorated to the hilt with only the most gorgeous decorations, and the celebration is always a highlight of the year for Disneyland fans. As long as you know you will be facing huge crowds, you will be able to enjoy yourselves with good planning.

As for closing times, they will be between 11:00 and 12:00 with New Years Eve 2:00 am ( I believe ) This is a shoulder to shoulder evening, perhaps not too good for kids ( unless they are teens ). Go planning to accomplish only certain things each day, and you will be happy if you get to more. If you try to see everything the first day you will be out of sorts to begin with. It is Magical, trying, and so wonderful to see. Have fun!
