I was checking on TripAdvisor today and some of the reviews for the Disneylands hotel are a little worrying. I know you all will let me know what you think about it. We are staying there for 4 nights in Jan. We orginally wanted GCH, but our budget won't allow for it.![]()
Please let me know about the DLH staff, rooms, amenities etc. Any compliments or complaints would be helpful just so I know what to expect.![]()
Thanks,
Alison

Honest opinions about the DL hotel

I've stayed at both hotels with the wife and two kids (3 and 2 y.o.). Money aside, we enjoyed both hotels greatly. DH is better if you have kids, but GCH is fancier and more adult.
As with any Disney property, we encountered only helpful and gracious staff.
As much as my family loves Disneyland and the hotels, it is hard for me to justify the cost, even with an AP discount. The best part about the GCH is the lobby area, so I would just stay at the DH and visit the GCH!

We stayed there in April. the north tower, it was great...
it was expensive, about 250 per night plus the service fee(which was paid separately at the hotel not online with the reservations)
the room was great, it is a bit larger than a fairfield type room.
loved the early entry option to the parks.
if we had been there longer may have tried the pool etc, but we were only there a couple nights.
the staff is great. and very helpful, and they dont mind dumb questions (like me calling them 3 times a day trying to get the room for one more night)
overall a great experience.
Is it worth the $100+ extra per night over the fairfield and similar hotels...?
Tough to say. but we did enjoy it.
we were on the top floor with a wonderful vies of the new parking structure, and if you hang out a bit a good view of DL.DCA 1/2 the park, Same low price....

We absolutely love the Disneyland Hotel. We have stayed there a few times and never have had a bad experience. My kids absolutely love the Neverland Pool. They rather stay there then go into the park...
I miss Animazement!!!

I think you'll love the DL Hotel. It definately has the best pool on property. It also has little touches, like the Koi Fish, The remote control Jungle Cruise boats, and the glow-in-the-dark tinkerbell wallpaper.

If you have the money, it's absolutely worth it. I've stayed there a few times and loved it. Especially if you are a concierge level guest!

thanks for the replies! I think I really just wanted you all to psych me up for the place
Those negative nancys at TripAdvisor were bringing me down. My husband has never been to Disneyland (?!) and I figured the Disneyland hotel would be the best place for him to get the full Disney experience.

Those reviews are a mixed bag. You really have to "read into" them to see if they were just expecting something else and didn't get what they wanted, it was just a bad day or some general ongoing issue. You have to look at the general consensus. There will always be some negative reviews on anything. "You can't please everyone all the time" maxim definitely applies.

We stayed at DLH last March and had a wonderful time, we did not take advantage of the pool, but the rooms and staff were outstanding, we even had room service one day that was delicious. I had a 4 yo and 12 yo with us. Enjoy yourself

We are looking forward to a one week stay the week of Christmas. Our family stayed there 8 years ago and have very fond memories. Only 24 more days until we load the train and head south to DL.
