Question So Cal AP to non-residents?

I'm a Washington resident going to visit family in the LA area. We go about twice a year - each time spending 3-5 days at Disneyland.

I noticed that on the Disneyland website, I am able to go online and it appears I could purchase a SoCal annual pass - which is significantly cheaper than the other annual passes. I didn't recall it asking for my zip code - though if I place an order and it is shipped to Washington, will they reject it?

Likewise, what are the chances of getting a SoCal pass by showing up at the gate and asking? I understand that they do not stictly hold to their "policy."

My intention is not to "beat the system," but if it is not a firm policy, then I'd like to take advantage.

    Any ideas on this?

My understanding is that anyone can purchase a so-cal AP, regardless of where they live. They are in fact much cheaper then any other AP. However they also have a lot more blocked days, including all of summer, most/all holidays etc. So be sure to check out the blocked days before purchasing and realizing you can't use it when you go.

I would just buy the SoCal AP at the Main gate, since if you order it on the web, they charge shipping and handling.

As for who can buy it, many folks have reported that they live in NoCal, or Washington state, or Canada, etc... and still can buy the SoCal AP, in fact I have been with folks, and have seen it done myself. So long as you can live with the blackout dates, they will sell it to you.

Now, one minor warning, things Disney do are ALWAYS subject to change! So there is a small Chance that they might not sell it to you because they have decided to enforce the rule. But with the current attendance trends being down, I would expect them to not change the rules, since they want to sell as many AP's as possible
