Has anyone stayed at Paradise Pier lately? It is of course the cheapest of the three at DL but I was wondering if it was worth it. Because if PP is run down I might stay somewhere else.

not run down, they actually just remodeled all the rooms, and is a great hotel to stay at. Loved our stays there. And I think Mickey's Surf's Up character breakfast is a great bargin since not a lot of people choose that one, and it seems the characters spend more quality time with you there.

Love the PPH. It's lobby and surrounding are not modern to say the least but they are far from run down. If there's one area of the DLR that Disney does not let get run down its the hotels. Haven't seen the renovated rooms but their unrenovated rooms were clean, upkept and very nice. If you opt up for a park view you're all the better.

Thanks for the advice Nfty and DLfreak! I think that I'll stay there and even spring for the concierge level. I have always wanted to stay at one of the DL hotels and didn't want my first time there to be a disapointment.

I ended up booking a room at the Grand Californian. We are really looking forward to it! Only a couple weeks before we're there...

Wondering about this hotel, too. I see that a lot of other hotels near the area are comparable or cheaper in price, and seem to be closer.
How far is the walk from the parks, and does it offer shuttle service?MouseInfo Moderator

Most of the hotels across the street on Harbor are definitely closer in walking distance/time. Its a little bit farther than say Hojo's from the Entrance Plaza to the hotel. Walking through Downtown Disney from the PPH although more scenic, seems to take longer I think because of people shopping, eating, etc. Its about 15-20 minutes walking time from the Paradise Pier to the entrance plaza. Its about 10-15 minutes from Hojos to the plaza depending on the light on Harbor. The Best Western Park Place Inn is like 5 minutes -- about the same as the Grand Californian.
