The film was intended to be released on DVD before the election. No big deal, since most DVD's are worked on before the film even hits theaters. In fact, I believe it's going to be called the Election edition or something along those lines. I don't know anyone at Lion's Gate or IFC, so I'll have to dig around. But they did plan it to maximize sales of the dvd's. Mr. Moore, for all his "I'm with you America!" postering, is nothing more than money hungry.

Why don't you read a review from someone who actually seen it? Go to http://slate.msn.com/id/2102723/

If Clinton had done it, as he often did, it would have shown his charm."
"And Richard Clarke, Bush's former chief of counterterrorism, has come forward to say that he, and he alone, took the responsibility for authorizing those Saudi departures. This might not matter so much to the ethos of Fahrenheit 9/11, except that—as you might expect—Clarke is presented throughout as the brow-furrowed ethical hero of the entire post-9/11 moment. And it does not seem very likely that, in his open admission about the Bin Laden family evacuation, Clarke is taking a fall, or a spear in the chest, for the Bush administration."

Re: Now this is absurd...Ban Fahrenheit 9/11??
I think it will hurt the Bush adminstration, weather its distorted or truthful the fact remains that the film is getting quite a bit of attention...and while everyone wont buy into the message, the message (weather it true or not) is still getting out there.Which I beleive will hurt Bush, will it make him lose the election? no probably not,but its certainly not helping him.
However, you state that it will hurt the Bush administration. These are nothing but opinions that people hold, they hold no truth whatsoever, so don't take it as such.

Re: Now this is absurd...Ban Fahrenheit 9/11??
The most amusing thing out of this whole issue is how quick Bush supporters rally to the call of "lies". Now, I'm sure there are some facts in this movie that are not correct, I'm sure there are some facts that are correct. You can't paint the whole movie as truthful or a lie based on some of the issues brought up.
Nowe the review you being in, woody, talks about the Bin Laden family. Well, the last half of this movie is about why we went to war with Iraq, based on questionable intelligence, etc. Don't discredit the whole movie based on portions of it.
Now, my biggest issue is: If even some of what Moore is telling us in this film is true, why haven't we been told about it? why has the public been kept in the dark about some of these issues. based on reviews and descriptions of what's in the movie, it disturbs me that our government in acting in this way. It harkens back to Nixon and his illegal activities, the behind closed door delaings with the Contras, and other issues where the government was working on its own agenda, and not necessarily the one that we had put forward by them.
I don't care which party it is, they should not be doing things behind our backs, they should not be selling marginal intelligence as fact, they should not be giving no-bid contracts on a preferential basis (I can't do that at work, why should the government do it). Our government is out of control.
BTW woody, your reviewer basically admits that he disagrees with Moore on many issues and has debated him on them. It is hardly an unbiased review. That's why I have been reading many reviews from all points of view in order to try to get a clear picture of what to expect from this movie. When in trouble,

"The most amusing thing out of this whole issue is how quick Bush supporters rally to the call of "lies"."
I suppose you mean Bush lies all the time so why are we surprised. You have to prove he lied.
"You can't paint the whole movie as truthful or a lie based on some of the issues brought up."
I haven't done that, but the Christopher Hitchens article has disputed almost all of the movie.
"Now, my biggest issue is: If even some of what Moore is telling us in this film is true, why haven't we been told about it?"
What is it that you want to know between the Moore outright lies and distortions? There isn't much except for the Bush golfing, which should be taken "as is."

no I beleive he meant, that the Bush supporters are so quick to scream "lies" in the face of anything negative said about the President, without really looking into it first.I could be wrong, but thats how I read it.
I suppose you mean Bush lies all the time so why are we surprised. You have to prove he lied.

True. Would be a nightmare for the theaters, though.

OMG a President playing golf.... He must have been the first president to defile the office that way... I cant believe it... oh wait was it the way he was joking around with his golfing buddies???

BTW Nemo, the economy is doing just fine.... and the only thing they said was a question mark last year on the economy was the rebound in jobs, this year the jobs kicked in, so what is it about the economy that is bugging you??? see if the economy that started a downturn at the end of the last administration, rebounds too quickly you have this pesky problem called inflation... you may not remember inflation because Reagan (the guy who just died) killed inflation with his econ policies, any how the economy is doing so well now that the fed is getting a bit worried about inflation that they are getting ready to raise interest rates to SLOW DOWN the racing economy...
point being the bush tax cuts did EXACTLY what he said they would do, and once it hits stride the defecit will disappear just like it did after reagan fixed the economy...
Have you taken an economics class or were you just making a generalization???
BTW there are more homeowners now then ever in history percentage wise, but the liberals arn't happy with that GOOD ECONOMIC news either so they are qualifying that by saying the blacks and hispanics are having a problem making their home payments and maybe they should be renting because thats what they can afford...
uh ok, I think.... give me a break...
i'm done, for now
