I haven't followed this thread, so please accept my apology if this was already mentioned. But check out Michael Moore's appearance on the "Late Show with David Letterman." Click on "Michael Moore's Oscar Memory".
What an idiot. When he accepted his Oscar, he made a politically divisive statement on the world stage, without "really knowing if it was true at the time."
Like most in the entertainment industry, he's only out to promote himself, and not add any real, meaningful dialogue to the world situation.
What a hack.

Although, if Kerry gets elected and raises the national minimum wage, we might remember what inflation is all about.

What these kids also dont realize is that the current unemployment percents are not all that high historically... 5% is usually thought of as "full employment" where there will always be a group of people in flux....

I can say one thing, if Kerry gets to raise the minimum wage, we'll be wishing we'd only have a 5% unemployment rate...

Re: Now this is absurd...Ban Fahrenheit 9/11??
The problem with job growth that is occuring is that it is not in the high paying manufacturing sector (the backbone of society). Yes, there lots of contract positions, lower-paying jobs developing, but the jobs that pay $18/hour aren't appearing . manufacturing is still not significantly increasing employment.
Oh yea, that's because I forgot, all that manufacturing employment is going overseens where the company's receive tax breaks and don't hace to deal with things like benefits, decent wages, environmental regulations, etc.
Hmmm, I can build a plant in Mexico where the wastewater can dump right into the river, or build in the US where you have to build a treatment plant, put emission controls on the stacks, and obery some laws as yto how you treat the employees.
But wait, this is good for the economy (or good for the fat cats who are the big money behind the GOP who see reduced overhead, more profit, etc.)When in trouble,

Re: Now this is absurd...Ban Fahrenheit 9/11??
I think this film will do pretty well in the box office, its not gonna be any Shrek 2,but it will do decent for what it is.This wont boade well for President Bush, and I think youll see his poll numbers drop in the next few weeks due to the coverage of this film and people going out to see it.It might be a eye opener to many.

Re: Now this is absurd...Ban Fahrenheit 9/11??
I don't think it's going to do that much damage to Bush's campaign, Moore is not the end all be all of the documentary, if anything, everyone knows how one sided he is.

I don't think this film will change any minds. It'll either preach to the converted or embolden the pro-Bush forces.
Pick your side.
For those of you in the middle, please, after you see the movie, promise me you will do some research on your own before you make a decision.

...and if a movie like this can accomplish this, for even a few people, then it will have done some good, no matter how they end up voting.

And while there may be some facts to look into in the documentary, almost any resemblance to reality is completely coincidental. Still doesn't mean that i don't want to see it, though. When in trouble,
