I don't believe that's true. Whatever Disney changed their name to they'd still be one company and Disney would still be the most powerful brand. Miramax has also been able to release loads of 'adult' films over the years, for example Kill Bill 1 & 2 recently, and Disney hasn't felt any significant heat because Miramax is already supposed to be an independant division and is branded as such. The idea of not transferring $$ also doesn't make sense as there'd be no point in operating a division like Miramax if you had no financial relationship with it.Originally Posted by ocnative1964
Whatever happens with Miramax, Disney will still try and make films for an older audience through Touchstone. The only question will be whether they'll be successful or whether they'll be too timid to try anything more adult than Pearl Harbour due to Touchstone really been a core part of the company (unlike Miramax).
I'd be interested to know what he's made up? I've heard people say that, but I've never actually seen anyone be able to back it up without making up things themself!Originally Posted by ocnative1964

Now this is absurd...Ban Fahrenheit 9/11?? Clueless conservatives...
Full story:US conservative groups have launched a campaign to have Michael Moore's "misleading and grotesque" film Fahrenheit 9/11 banned from cinemas...
Move America Forward has begun a letter-writing campaign, while Citizens United is making TV and internet adverts which criticise Moore.

Just thought I'd post this to even out the "Now this is absurd...Boycott Disney?? Clueless liberals..." thread.
I'd be interested to know if those who don't agree with boycotting Disney over not releasing the film (which, I assume, is all of us) also find the campaign to suppress it idiotic?
On my part it seems that, liberal or conservative, you can always be an idiot!

I will definitely see this film. I pretty much agree with everything Micahel Moore says, but the way he goes about getting to his point is very Hitler-esk. To try and get theatres to ban a movie because you disagree with it outragous I have no problem with boycotting because that doesn't directly affect others, wheras banning a film so that it can not be shown does affect everyone.

Why ban it? If you don't want to see it or don't like the guy, then don't see it. Why keep others from seeing it?
People who don't like or don't agree with other films don't try to get them banned, but why this one? (That could be a bad point/question because people tried to ban Harry Potter due to a "black magic" influence or whatever. Crazy people).

Damnit people! Ever heard of freedom of speech and freedom to publish whatever you want? Over half the nation already hates Bush anyways.

This film has already received high praise at Cannes, (longest standing ovation in the festival's history). I think it inferiorates some because it's overall message is hyper-critical of Bush and his administration. There will be a lot of truths coming out of this film that the whole American public should be aware of what is/was going on Republican or Democratic.
I do want to see it, even though personally I think Moore's message seems self serving. He comes across very arrogant at times, he got me fired up stating his next film will be going after Disney. I bet Roy and Stan will be in that flick..

Re: Now this is absurd...Ban Fahrenheit 9/11?? Clueless conservatives...
We are talking about fringe groups here. Most people who support Pres. Bush understand that Mr. Moore has the right to show his movie, and they won't go see it. I honestly think that it should be released after the election, only because he says it's not "political" rrriiigghhttt!?
I believe Mr. Moore to be a terrible film maker. I have seen two of his movies and then did a bit of research afterwards (you should never take an activist at face value) and found many errors or fabrications with some of his statements. Honestly I wouldn't be surprised if he strated a rumor claiming pro-Bush people are trying to shut him down, it makes good publicity. I don't expect Farenhite 9-11 to be successfull, it's only going to be on like 400 screens (that's not much) and i also believe only those who believe what he has to say already going into the theater will be watching it.
I say, If he really believes this is not a pollitical attack, then release it post election.

Woopsee, I accidentally hit the "Definately not, and I support efforts to keep it off screens" button...which is most certainly NOT what I think. I think this movie is a great way to get people to think that maybe the president isnt all good and mighty as many people seem to assume.

From what I understand, moore has said his next project will expose his dealings with eisner, and how much they've clashed. I doubt eisner will be painted in a very positive light.
