I am now becoming interested in this film after first having my doubts. From what I am hearing here and from reviews I am starting to want to see it. But I think I will wait closer to Christmas time to see it, later on in the lifetime of the film being in theaters. I like to take my time. Hey, I still need to see the Incredibles.

Re: The Polar Express Movie
Visually this is the greatest movie I have ever seen. And I it was worth every penny they spent to make it. The only sad part is that the movie is only okay and doesn't compare to how great the book is. Too much stuff Added I think. I saw it on Imax in 3-d and have to wait till 4:45 to see it on sunday because when I went at 1:00 the 2:30 was already sold out of this huge Imax theater. Not to add that the price was $12 for adults and $10 for kids and at the same time it was playing every half an hour in the normal theaters for the matenee price, in the same building. It is a 20 theater plus One Imax and I am glad we waited. I was reluctant at first but even though there was a long wait and price if your going to watch this movie watch it right. And this is the best movie graphically ever.I mean for $170 million it better be.

The trailers and the stills haven't sold me at all, but the amount of enthusiasm for this film is amazing (especially since most seemed to feel about the same as I do before they saw it). Almost makes me wonder if there's some kind of subliminal messaging in there or something.
And if word of mouth continues like this, the box office has got to pick up.
I'm gonna do my best to check it out between now and Christmas. (still a little early for me).

Re: The Polar Express Movie
A couple of additions:
(1) I put very little weight into how Roger Ebert and his new evil cohort rate films. Ebert seems to have lost his soul since the death of Siskel and gives good reviews to truly awful films.
(2) I actually don't expect 'Polar Express' to have good holiday legs. Too much competition from too many places. Plus, it kind of died its first week in theaters. What really will determine it is how much of a dive it takes this weekend.
(3) My personal feeling is that the movie is absolute dreck. I almost choked on the treacle. Plus there is way too much creepy Tom Hanks. Hell, how much Tom Hanks does one movie need? Compounded by the horrid animation, nothing can save the picture.

ˆ I feel like I'm watching "Point-Counter Point! It's still holding onto an indecisive 60% over at Rotten Tomatoes, so maybe I've misread the zeitgeist.
Still, you could almost convince me to see "Wimbledon" if it was in 3-D IMAX.

Re: The Polar Express Movie
well see wimbledon looks like it was a good movie. And really though I have seen tons of movies on Imax and this is the best graphically. Watch on Imax even if you think the movie itself will be bad. It's worth the graphic effects.

Yeah, I don't know. The reviews have been so mixed. I'm thinking if I see it, 3-D IMAX is probably the way to go. That way, even if the movie blows, at least you get the added effects.

Re: The Polar Express Movie
I just saw the movie right now. It would be a bonus to see this in IMAX. From the trailers, I thought this movie was gonna be bad- even its from Robert Zemicks and Tom Hanks. Boy was i wrong. This has got to be one of the best hoilday films. At first, I was scared of the photo-realistic human characters. But after about 1/2 to the movie, you'll feel more comfortable. It took awhile for me to understand and except the movie. In the end, I enjoyed this movie.
