But really, current DVD's are really really clear... who really needs to be able to count the strands of hair on Julia Roberts' neck in Mystic Pizza?

I'm addicted to Disneyland. Disneyland hobbies are expensive. If I become a bum people are going to say "Don't give him money, he's just gonna use it on Disneyland."

I really really hope nobody needs that.

I guess the new players will play current DVDs, so you can just buy Blu-Ray versions of your very favorites. Of course I'll want to see my favorites as clear as possible. Sure DVDs are clear now, but these will be freaky-clear!
HDTV will eventually take over just like CDs took over, and DVDs took over VHS.

Yea but HDTV doesn't require you to go buy a new TV. I mean you need a new one to experience HDTV but everyone won't have to go out and buy new TVs if they don't want to... I don't know why I'm bothered so much by this but it's really ridiculous. I really don't see this being a big enough selling point to get consumers to start buying up new collections and converting (AGAIN) Just when DVD burners for computers and the like are becoming afordable and DVD players are pretty much in as many households as there were VCRs I don't think that a clearer HD image is a big enough selling point. As sure as my feet are large, it's not a big enough selling point for me that the picture is clearer.

It took me so long to get all the animated features on VHS and DVD..don't tell me I got to do it all again...plus, I'm always upgrading my dvds anytime a special edition or platinum edition comes out.
