Just got back from seeing the Dark Knight tonight.
Just Brilliant everyone go see it!!
It's a long film, must say a few spots i thought the end was coming but it kept going, thats not a bad thing though.
Not bored through it at all a well made film the action was intense and was just a unique superhero movie, best film i've seen this year.
The entire ensemble did an outstanding job.
And Heath Ledger. So sad to think he is gone he was brilliant in Broke back Mountain but this put him in another league. Every-time he came into a scene it was all his. the intensity in his performance was perfect chilling infact.
Spoiler Alert! (highlight to read)
His scene when he is being shown on a tv show, in a tape he sent in talking to a batman impostor the anger and insanity in his performance shock me when he says "Who is he!!" Chilling!
Can't wait to see it again Friday at Imax!
Everyone go see it, you will not be disappointed, The opening scene grabs you straight away it is amazing set up to introduce you to the characters.

I just got back from a 9:30 pm showing.
An amazing film. Everything was perfect. I have no complaints; well, except it did feel weird seeing Rachael being played by someone else at first, but I quickly got over that. I was so sucked into the story and intensity. It was brilliant.
My favorite part:
Spoiler Alert! (highlight to read)
The Joker's long wide one take shot of him blowing up the hospital. Hilarious and spectacular at the same time.

Awesome movie!
I've decided that it is A) scary and B) it's scary because most movies have throw-away extras who die and often it's comical somehow, and the Dark Knight is not nearly so subtle with the audience.

Also, my local AM had to keep adding midnight showings to keep up with demand. Several 12:01's all sold out, then a pair of 12:15's, and definitely one 12:25 sold out and being told when my friends were scrambling to try and be in the same theater that the second 12:25 was almost sold out (likely did as we were begging to be moved around an hour and half before the movie).

The worst review I've seen so far is a B (A being the best and F being something you scraped off your shoe. Like Sex in the City or the Happening).

Great movie. What's so great about this movie and this series is that they treat the characters and storyline with care. Granted, there's a suspension of belief to be had but they make everything feel so gritty and real and in doing this it makes imminent death scenes or scenes where there might be a death or conflict all the more intense because you don't know what's going to happen and care what's going to happen.
Also, unlike the first film where we get an obvious hint about the sequel with the Joker's calling card at the end, did anyone else take it as a hint about the third film when Fox told Bruce...Spoiler Alert! (highlight to read)
that his new batsuit might not protect him against dogs but it should surely be fine against a CAT?
As for Oscar worthy... not so sure about that. It's a lot smarter than your typical summer action flick but not sure there's a whole lot to really set it apart for an Academy Award. I did think Ledger did an awesome job with the character, definitely an iconic character, I thought, up there with Jack Sparrow.Last edited by dlfreak; 07-19-2008 at 02:10 AM.
