Wall-E takes several watch-through viewings to see how sweet of a movie it really is. Most things passed me by the first three-four times. I really like this movie now. It is very well done and should be considered a classic.
I didn't really care for it much when I saw it in the theater.

On a cinematic level, Wall-E tops other Pixar films such as Cars. It may not be as exciting, per say, but it's much deeper. Is it for everyone? No, but it is the rare animated beast that reaches for more than just entertainment...and that's exactly what it would take to secure a nod.
Someone mentioned if the one slot is between The Dark Knight and Wall-E that TDK would definitely get it because the academy hates animation. And while I agree with this, the academy also hates action/sci-fi/comic book movies. So, they're both climbing an uphill battle from that standpoint.
Ratatouille had a chance for a nomination, but Pixar didn't push for one. Instead, they focused all of their advertising on a Best Animated Feature nod. You CAN get both, but Pixar was thinking, then, that if they pushed for both that they might get shut out of both by splitting the votes.
With the strong following for Wall-E, it'd be a mortal shame if it somehow didn't get the Best Animated Feature award, thus Pixar has decided to go for the gusto and will push Wall-E like no animated film has ever been pushed for a Best Picture Nom.

My GF and I both experienced this as well. We liked the movie in the theater, but enjoyed it far more when we saw it on DVD. When we watched it the second time the love story between Wall-E and Eve seemed to be more the focus than the eco/consumerism statement side of the story.

As much as I loved Ratatouille, I honestly thought Wall-E was better. It's actually my favorite Pixar film, and I thought the first 20+ minutes of the movie having no dialogue was a bold move for a family film, let alone Pixar.
It was also the most aesthetically pleasing for me.

When I'm watching a cartoon, I want entertainment...so, my favorite Pixar films would be Toy Story, or Finding Nemo, Cars...that genre....Wall E was good for what it was...a movie with a message.
I didn't enjoy it, I think it shouldn't be what Disney goes forward with, but glad it was enjoyable for you all.MouseInfo Moderator

You are the epitome of the populist unwashed. You disgust me...but for being 72, you look pretty good.
PS I love Wall-E. Mrs. G2D says it's good, but never needs to see it again. Whatevs. It's no Madagascar 2 though!Jaleel White does not approve.
