Ted Elliot and Terry Rossio are brilliant writers, but Latino Review's description of Tonto as 'Hawkeye from Last of the Mohicans meets Obi Wan Kenobi' just bumped this film up to 'most anticipated' summer blockbuster of the next three years (yes, ahead of Pirates)

Johnny Depp's 'The Lone Ranger' Shut Down By Disney - The Hollywood Reporter
Disney just halted production for "The Lone Ranger". The film starring Armie Hammer and Johnny Depp, was suppose to start production in October for a December 2012 release. Reports say that there was budget concerns for the flick, rumored to be around 232 million.

I still don't understand why a Western would cost that much to make.. but Depp is a billion dollar maker, evidenced in "Alice" and the POTC films.
