I jsut wanted to say -- recently there seems to have been posting just to "up" post counts. This isn't some sort of game, we need to have meaningful discusisons. Doing whatever it takes to up your post count is silly. I have witnessed this in many places. Posts that could've been all together as separate points in one post have been split apart by a nice bar of buttons that show your profile, email, etc. It is also annoying for those people who use dial-up to see that a thread has a new reply, only to load the entire page full to see that someone addeed one word, or multiple posts that should be all together in one. Please stop this.
I'd really hate to see the post-count feature go away, however, if it must, it must in the spirit of good conversation.
Please, let's get back to high quality posts.

What about those who just want to post in agreement. I don't think everyone likes to make long-winded responses. That's a LP thing.
Just saying, it's not always because people just want to up their post count. I really could care less if they took that away. So be it.Just here. Nowhere.

you can have high quality without length. But you can also have fun, while staying on topic.

I can see Lacrosse Boy's point and how it could be irritating to those with slower modems, but I have to agree with Santa Monica on this one.

I understand what you're saying. It's annoying and, in my opinion, childish.
But having said that, I'm not sure what can be done about it. These boards sometimes remind me of High School. There's a group of "cool kids", the "quiet kids", and those who are just trying to do the best they can without getting beat up. And of course, there are those (Happiest Millionaire, anyone?
who just plain don't give a damn.
At least there's one who agrees with you. When it comes to post counts, size doesn't matter. So let's all grow up a little."Some imagination, huh?!?!"
Mickey Mouse in Fantasmic!
"I'm either on another line or away from my desk right now. Please leave a message and I'll get back to you as soon as I can. Have a nice day."

I dont think or I have personally never heard anyone talk about increasing their post-count on purpose.
Some post more then others, some dont. Some people can express an opinion with a few words, some need a few paragraphs.
Nothing wrong with either, and there is no reason to be worried over another's posting habbits.
Besides, like all Message Boards, just skip over the stuff you dont want to read. Plus, those one word posts makes it easier to skip....

And see, I would have just left it at that. If I did, it was solely so he could see that I find his post humorous and that I support it. I can do that in one symbol, so why should I have to post a long-winded paragraph? I reserve those for the hot debates that I choose to get involved in. And besides, I thought most people skipped over the long-winded posts.
I'm sorry for the people that have dial-up, but oh well. Free speech, free expression. And, especially concerning those in KickBack Cafe, who cares? If the point of KickBack is that you get to relax and hang out and be yourself w/o mentioning Disney, then you should be able to respond however you want.
Just because I posted something about my 1000th post doesn't mean I've been trying to REACH that post this entire time. And besides, it started a thread that other people joined in... can't be anything wrong with that. So I'll second Santa Monica. If you think it's because of the numbers, then take away the count. I'll still post just a
if that's what I feel like posting. (Unless Michael and the Moderator Gods say otherwise, of course!)
