(Hong Kong- November 21, 2010) Over a hundred guests ages 0 to 100 years old and the Arts Ambassadors from schools selected by Hong Kong Arts Development Council gathered at the Hong Kong Disneyland Resort today to promote respect for the elderly and intergenerational harmony on Elderly Day. This event was jointly organized by Hong Kong Society for the Aged (SAGE), Hong Kong Arts Development Council and Hong Kong Disneyland Resort.

]The guests and Arts Ambassadors took a group photo with Disney friends Pinocchio and Geppetto. Artiste Anderson Junior was also invited to join the happy moments. The Arts Ambassadors then accompanied each participating family to capture photos of their happy faces enjoying Hong Kong Disneyland Park. The photos featuring their visit will be on display at a photo exhibition. The exhibition is designed to bring joy and warmth to the community and highlight the wonderful journey of life of every person.

“As an elderly-service organization which aims to provide professional care services for senior citizens, SAGE has been taking actions to support Elderly Day over the years. Today we join Hong Kong Arts Development Council and Hong Kong Disneyland Resort to organize

'Journey of Life’ to promote intergenerational harmony and to present different stages of life, different faces and different experiences. Although there are a lot of differences among ourselves, we are all in the same boat,” said Dr Kim K W Mak, BBS, JP, Chairman of Hong Kong Society for the Aged in his remark.

During the welcome address of Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Hong Kong Disneyland Resort Michael Moriarty, he shared his own journey of life. “I am reminded everyday that life goes by very fast; I hope everyone will savor each moment and create lasting memories on their own journey.” He added, “Being devoted to contributing to our community, Hong Kong Disneyland Resort has organized various kinds of community events over the years enriching lives of different people. We would like to take this opportunity to extend happiness and arts to the community as well as promote love and respect for the elderly. The Resort has provided a joyful place for today’s event, enabling all families to bring the old and the young together to celebrate Elderly Day. Take a lot of photos and capture every magical moment.”


“Our 101 Arts Ambassadors and their friends will unleash their artistic talents into full play today; they will capture the happy moments of their 101 0 to 100-year-old friends and their families with creative photography while recording today’s experience and their feelings down in words,” said Ko Tin-lung, Chairman of Arts Promotion Committee of the Hong Kong Arts.

For these 101 participants, everyone has their own life story. The wife of 74 year-old Mr Mok died of cancer few years ago. He seemed to be lonely but his soul is not left alone. He feels satisfied every time he thinks of his wonderful Journey of Life. “I do not find the most precious moment during the good times of my life. Staying with my beloved wife and battling the illness with her for 375 days gives me the most unforgettable memory. The patient and care for each other did not fade when my wife passed away; the sincerity and love is still kept in my heart. As I visit the Park today, I recall the happy memories when I traveled around with my wife,” said Mr Mok.

Ms Ng was smiley and joyful as she shared her day with three other generations of her family; her mother, who is approaching 90 years old, her daughter and granddaughter to celebrate a very different Elderly Day. “This is not my first time to come to Disneyland, but there is nothing else comparable to enjoying the Park happily with my family. The happy photos taken today will definitely remind us of the happy memories,” said Ms Ng.

The Arts Ambassadors who participated in the event today received a complimentary admission ticket to Hong Kong Disneyland Resort via the program “Give a Day. Get a Disney Day”. This program is organized by Agency for Volunteer Service and is fully supported by Disney, with the hope of encouraging the public to volunteer.
