Hong Kong, July 8, 2011 – Hong Kong Disneyland Resort announced today that it will introduce new pricing and offers effective from August 1, 2011. The new prices for a 1-Day Ticket will be HK$399 for General Admission Ticket* (aged 12–64), and HK$285 for a Child Ticket (aged 3–11).
HKDL is also launching new discount offers and a new ticket option. Hong Kong residents will enjoy the current prices of 1-Day General Admission and Child Tickets for four more months through November 30, 2011. The price of Senior 1-Day Tickets and Senior Magic Access Memberships will be cut by 41%. Also, a new 2-Day Ticket will help Guests save nearly 40%.
Details are as follows:
A HKDL spokesman said, “This is the first across-the-board change in ticket pricing in nearly six years since the opening of HKDL. This is a carefully-considered package which has taken into consideration a variety of factors such as rising inflation, growing operating costs, Guest needs and respect for the elderly. We have made our best endeavor to minimize the impact to our Guests.
- The Senior 1-Day Ticket price will be reduced by 41% (a savings of HK$70) to HK$100.
- Senior Magic Access prices will be reduced by 41%, while all other Magic Access prices will remain unchanged.
- A special promotion program will enable Hong Kong residents to continue to enjoy the current prices of General Admission and Child Tickets for four additional months through November 30, 2011. The new prices for General Admission and Child Tickets will be effective from December 1, 2011.
- A new 2-Day Ticket will be launched. For only HK$100 more than the 1-Day General Admission Ticket price, Guests can enjoy more fun and flexibility with this enhanced-value option to visit Hong Kong Disneyland on any two days within a seven-day period, except for Designated Days. (2-Day Ticket rates are also available for seniors and children.)
“For our Hong Kong Guests, a great majority of them are Magic Access members or annual passholders. About 70% of them purchased their annual passes at HK$650, a price which has remained the same since its launch. This means that the great majority of local Guests will not be affected by the price review.
“In recognition of the elderly and their contribution to society, and to encourage visits by entire families, the price of admission for senior Guests will be reduced by as much as 41%.
“As for our Guests traveling from overseas, they account for nearly 70% of total Park attendance. We believe the price adjustment will only have a limited impact on them as the revised ticket price represents only a small fraction of the total traveling expenses.”
The spokesman added, “Since the opening of HKDL, we have added more than eight new attractions and entertainment offerings and many special events. At the same time, we have strived to control costs and stabilize our ticket prices. However, the cumulative inflation rate has risen by almost 20%, the Hong Kong dollar has depreciated by more than 20% against other regional currencies such as the renminbi, and the addition of new themed areas will increase operating costs. After careful consideration of these factors, we have decided to adjust the ticket prices. ”
The spokesman said HKDL has placed great emphasis on providing world-class attractions and entertainment offerings. The Resort’s first large-scale expansion project is well underway – Asia’s first Toy Story Land will open later this year, while two other world-exclusive new themed areas, Grizzly Gulch and Mystic Point, will open ahead of schedule by 2013.
