Here's a list of possible Kerry Vice President candidates from Newsweek. Bill Clinton isn't on the list, which means NO PUNDIT is seriously thinking about him.
JOHN EDWARDS The North Carolina senator
DICK GEPHARDT The Missouri congressman
BOB GRAHAM The Florida senator
BILL RICHARDSON The governor of New Mexico
EVAN BAYH The senator from Indiana
BOB KERREY The former Nebraska senator and governor
SAM NUNN The former Georgia senator
HILLARY CLINTON: The New York senator
There you go.
HILLARY CLINTON:Where's Bill? The New York senator is a hit in the Senate and commands wide allegiance among Democrats.
Advantages: Large parts of the party would do anything to get her on the ticket and she might increase turnout in the Democratic base, especially among women.
Disadvantages:She brings no votes that Kerry would not otherwise have and potentially alienates moderates and independents who want to put a little distance between this election and the Clinton years. New York is already in the bag for Democrats. Clinton would have to explain breaking her promise not to run.
Other long shots: Kansas Gov. Kathleen Sebelius, Iowa Gov. Tom Vilsack and Arizona Sen. John McCain. Of course, choosing McCain could sew up the election for Kerry but McCain, a Republican, is unlikely to accept.

Re: Kerry's Running mate??? who should he pick?
Kerry made a statement earlier to the effect that, Clinton was the first "black president" and he would be honored to be the second "black president". Very odd for him to say right before an election, but it didn't seem to hurt him at all I guess.

At least Bill Clinton waited until he opened his office in Harlem to say that...

Re: Kerry's Running mate??? who should he pick?
bush won the electoral college, Gore won the popular vote. which means more Americans voted for and wanted gore to be president, but the damn electoral college sscrewed it all up.

and to the other clinton thing, Hilary might be eligible to run for VP, but she has already said she wants to finish out her term as Senator. i believe her term ends in 2006, yeah senators have a 6 year term. so thatd be in the middle of the next presidents office. so i wonder what she'll do for those 2 years. if she runs for senator again, we may never see her in the white house, but then again if she didnt do anything political for those 2 years, she could drop outta the spotlight and people might forget about her for a while. unless of course she goes out and about and does stuff like when she was first lady. either way: HILARY FOR PRES IN 2008!!!

Actually i think the Dems want her in 2012, (Only if Kerry gets elected). If Bush gets elected, she will run in 2008.

Re: Kerry's Running mate??? who should he pick?
Both. It's very short, and easy to understand. It's also open to interpetation. Interpretation of the law is the main function of the Court.Previously you mentioned how easy to read and understand the Constitution is, now you are saying that it depends on interpretation... which is it, easy for anyone to understand, or does it depend on the interpretation...
What I said is that if challenged, it would have to go to court. The court interprets the Constitution based on intent. The law school professor knows this. So should you, frankly.you say that a PUBLISHED law professor from NYU (hardly a conservative enclave for higher learning) may be intreperting it one way...
You don't need a law school degree to say the things I am saying. These are very basic concepts as to how our government works, not legal opinions. And what law school is your degree from??? and was it constitutional law??
I have told you exactly what it says, specifically, I have told you what the Preamble was, which you feel is appropriate to a country like Cuba.you have told me in post after post how the constitution means XYZ... actuall it can (and has been) interpreted different ways at different times...
What count did he win "either way?"Bush won the count either way...Last edited by jonvn; 03-04-2004 at 11:46 PM.

appointed, elected... sorry i meant the same thing... the vote of the elecrtol college is what put Bush in the white house... the Supreme court had nothing to do with that EC vote... The court saw the case of recounting in FL thats it...

Re: Kerry's Running mate??? who should he pick?
the EC is how we elect our President until that is changed thats it, the popular vote does not count... you are right... fact of life.. it didnt screw up anything... thats the law...

bill clinton did it, G w Bush did also... so when hillary runs next for the senate with 2 years before the 08 election it would not stop her... nor would her previous statement stop her from taking a VP nod from kerry if offered...
but she will only do either if she is very sure of winning...
one thing for sure Hillary will not drop out of the spot light...DCA 1/2 the park, Same low price....

Re: Kerry's Running mate??? who should he pick?
Uh...the vote in Florida determined how the vote in the electoral college would go. The Supreme Court decided how the election in Florida would turn out, so in turn, they decided what went on in the Electoral College.the vote of the elecrtol college is what put Bush in the white house... the Supreme court had nothing to do with that EC vote... The court saw the case of recounting in FL thats it...You may contact me via jonvn@nadelberg.com.
