No, I didn't see Gladiator, but that is because I don't like the sort of movie. I fell alseep while watching bravehard. But I don't "boycot" live action movies from Dreamworks. If it is a good (live-action)movie I just watch it, wheter it is from Disney, Dreamworks or whatever.Originally posted by yensid:
It's to bad you won't go see it Disneytom, because it is hilarious movie. Does that mean you didn't see Gladiator?

Yensid, I have to say, if its animated and it ain't Disney I ain't seeing it! That's not close minded, its because my family have been burned in the past by shoddy animated movies from other studios. With Disney, I can be sure of the quality and funny sidekicks my kids love. With Aniztasia, we were so bored! With Iron Giant there were things in that movie that I thought were questionable for children.
So, with Shrek, count us out! But when Atlantis comes out, we'll be first in line (in fact, we already have our order in for our El Capitan tickets -- even though it means a few less meals out)!DisneyDweeb

I thought I was one of the Disney die hards till I read this thread. Yes, Disney makes many good animated films and they have the classics, but so do other studios. I personally loved Anastasia and I thought it was a Disney film at first. Later when I found out it wasn't I was amazed that another studio came up with such a great film, and it WAS disney-like. There are alot out there like that. Disney also puts out some not so great films. Don't bash me too much but I did not like Pochahontas - Disney changed the original story just a bit too much and made Pochahontas into a women instead of a girl, etc...I also didn't like Hercules - I really thought that film was boring and stupid. So Disney is not perfect either, so I would encourage people not to have a closed mind but try other animated films, you might be pleasantly surprised.

I'm totally for the Shreck movie. I just dont agree when critics think that Disney has to back them just because its an animated feature. Shreck doesnt have anything to do with Disney. Why should Disney aknnowledge it?

Toominnie/Yensid:
Don't get me wrong, not all things Dinsey are great. I didn't like "Emperer" and neither did my kids!
All I am saying is the Dinsey label offers a specific guarantee of quality -- most of the time. When I have to save money just to take my kids to a matinay, I want to make sure I'm going to get my moneys worth and that my family is going to have a good time.

I'm pretty anti-Dreamworks, too. I'll probably wait for it to come out on video.
Someone was telling me (and this is PURE rumor) that the Shrek character has facial characteristics to look like Michael Eisner. Has anyone heard the same?"You sure have made a fool of yourself this time." Brer Fox

DisneyDweeb, in the past I would have agreed with you regarding the quality of Disney's movies. But with the string of recent films, such as Toominnie pointed out as well as yourself, I no longer think Disney is the end all in animated films. Other studios are taking bigger risks on their product and some fail and some don't. The key is they are trying to do something different.
It all comes down to personal taste and there are as many of those as there are people. So, just as Toominnie said before, I don't understand the anti-Dreamworks sediment that is going on. Major players in studios have fall out's all the time. What's the big deal?
If a movies good . . . a movies is good.
