Now I see the problem. You do understand crickets are not considered valid currency, yes?

I'll hire you. I have no money to pay you but there are crickets all over the place here. Would the commute be a problem?

Hope you find something soon. Something you actually like!

Banjalot's tip to get ahead in the world of employment:

Sign up to a temp agency for an office job. A lot of office-based companies, including the government, always need relatively unskilled workers at VERY short notice.

Use the experience temp office jobs you get to secure a permanent office job. Sure the pay is low, but everybody starts somewhere. Use this job to pay for training courses and further development, or if you can, get them to pay for it for you, particularly if you can relate it to the work you do for them.

Use your experience and new skills (including from the training courses) to secure either a promotion within, or outside the company. Use the new position to do the above all over again, but whilst getting more money. Use the additional money to do a course to get into a career stream that you are passionate about.

Try and shape your positions as best you can (including doing or creating duties outside your normal level/area of responsibility) towards your career stream goal.

Continue this process until you retire.

About 4 years ago, I had no skills, no qualifications, and worked part-time at McDonalds. Got a temp job, used that to get a permanent job, used the permanent job to pay for half my training courses, used the new skills and quals to get a better job, shaped that job to skills to get where I am now, in a job that I love.

    Thanks for the hints Banj..
But my experiances with temp agencies have left a VERY bitter taste in my mouth in San Diego. I'm much more interested in direct hire jobs. It's not that I dont have "experiance" it's that I'm lacking a degree.
But unfortunately I can't go to school if I'm not working. Viscious cycle.

It just occurred to me: when you went in, were you wearing your Pirate outfit you bought for the party for someone none of us knows?

    Pirates make lousy cashiers.
