    2 I have yet in 5 years of DVD ownership I have yet to have a personal DVD scratched and not play, thats with 2 small kids.

    i have rented a couple from netflix, maybe 3 out of 300 that have been scratched and wont play properly and those are like rental cars, people dont care so much.

    so I think scratching is the least of your worries...

    and vhs has a very limited lifetime anyhow, tape degrades very quickly, and the picture is horrible anyhow.

    maye when it finally gets obsolete ill let my friend's kid put a jelly sandwich in it and then et the older kids wreck the vcr
