I don't know if going about saying you know what God wants is the best idea. Just saying. Saddam is responsible for the death of untold numbers of innocent people, so as far as I'm concerned, he deserves to die a slow painful death for each life he destroyed, then another one for every orphan he created.
I am personally for the death penalty, but using Numbers isn't a very good argument. The Old Testament laws also permit selling your daughter into slavery, so they're clearly not meant to be carried into present times.
The only thing in my mind that this solves is the ridiculous notion that the man could come back and take over. There are still people who believe and pray that Saddam would eventually topple the new government and come back to power. Of course, he is dead now, so that's going to be a bit harder for him to do.

Holy moly. I would hope no one would ever bust the "that's what God would want" card. What would Walt think?!?

The Vatican came out today against the Sadaam hanging, and rightfully so.It didnt solve anything,Iraq will still be a huge mess, there was no threat of him ever returning to power. What did this really accomplish? in my opinion, nothing.I just find the death penalty very hypocritical, how could you condemn a man for killing people and punish him by doing the very same thing proclaimed as so immoral? if killing is so wrong then why are we doing it? just my 2 cents.

Well we handed him over to get hanged. In my opinion the US is just as guilty for the hanging as the Iraqi gov't.But it doesnt really matter who is responsible for it,its still not right.Killing is wrong no matter who it is,a life is a life, and while Sadaam was a bad man I am still against killing him.He deserved to be punished though, maybe have him pave roads in Iraq for 15 hours a day, something that would actually benefit the Iraqis!

This is why the hanging was pointless.

I agree 100% the fact that he could come back kept the hopes of his backers alive. of course if he comes back now? all bets are off.

Nemo, I believe you have made opposite arguments in the past. Care to explain? Seems as if you're picking an unnecessary fight.
You have been adamant against this war in Iraq...however, Saddam has been a horrible dictator comparable to Hitler...did Hitler not deserve to die for his actions?
You may not agree with why we are in this war, but Hussein deserved to die for his actions.MouseInfo Moderator
