I've been looking around and it looks like SLRs dont really do video and the ones that do are expensive and don't have video features as good as "low end" camears like the Kodaks. Hm. So maybe SLR is out of the picture... I'm so frazzled with all of this, I'm giong out of my mind... the Canon website isn't as nicely presented as the Kodak site and the Nikon site doesn't even list prices which turned me off instantly. UGH! The new Kodak Z series cameras look good but the battery options don't thrill me. Hmmph.
[EDIT, whoa replies already, haha. Thanks guys.]

I'm addicted to Disneyland. Disneyland hobbies are expensive. If I become a bum people are going to say "Don't give him money, he's just gonna use it on Disneyland."

Not sure if you have bought a new camera yet, so I thought I would post this review of a newish Canon camera (PowerShot SX10 IS) - mickey7 mentioned it in an earlier post. It's not a DSLR, but what they call a super-zoom camera. It has a 20x zoom lens, does movies (not HD though) and apparently can take some decent night shots as well.
Check out this review at photographyblog.com:

That looks like a great camera but I'd rather shoot myself in the left arm then have to go back to a camera that uses double A batteries. Big bummer because I was pretty hot on that camera until I read the power source information. Thanks for sharing!! I've really seriously been looking at the Nikon P80, it's on sale right now for $299 basically everywhere... decisions decisions...

I use double AA's for mine and what I did is everytime Micheals would have a 50% coupon I would go down and buy the energizer rechargerables so I have have about 20 batteries and we just recharge them. I usually don't have to change my batteries about once a day or every two days unless I use my LCD screen. I love my Canon S3IS my father in law has a sony and she has problems with the stablization on his.
Good luck in finding a good camera for you.
