No, nothing I can think of. If the dentist does his job of numbing your face, there shouldn't be any issues. I think the worst part of the root canal was smelling the rotten tooth once they got through to the root...

Yea, they're not too bad. Worse than a filling. But then again, is any trip to the dentist pleasant?

It wasn't as bad as advertised for me anyway. The worst part for me was the burning smell of root, that made me kind of ill.

As far as pain is concerned, very little if none at all during the root canal.

Overall, not a biggie.

I'm planing to wear my ipod and listen to Disney tunes. Maybe I should have aromatherapy lotion on too to combat the tooth smell.

Thanks guys!

Bring your headphones and just tune everything out. The dentist will get you numb, and then nothing else should bother/hurt you. Depending on the tooth, # of canals, it can be a longer, boring procedure as the patient as there are a number of steps to go through.

The horror stories of root canals are based on when there is a large rampant infection around the tooth, usually with a draining abscess. The pH of the infection neutralizes the anesthetic and the patient doesn't get numb very well or at all. This is a situation where the patient is already in excruciating pain due to the abscess and major swelling and treating this by starting a root canal can be painful in the short term if unable to be numb but necessary to get rid of the infection. These cases are very rare.

You'll be fine, enjoy those Disney tunes.

For me it wasn't the pain or the procedure (which wasn't bad)..but the sound of the drill...definitely bring an Ipod...it will save you.
