    MI Weekly Poll - January 12, 2009

Howdy everyone, and welcome to the first MI Poll of 2009!

Sorry for the 1-week delay in getting this online. Last week was the first week of classes, and alas it was busier than I expected it to be. The regular once-a-week schedule, though, should resume now that things are settling down.

I think that's enough blabbering for now. Have fun polling!

I tired posting this before, but my internet connection was screwed up.

So....... Juding by the pics, I think that DL might have a big attendance increase this year. Not to sure about WDW, I heard bookings were down. It's hard to say though, so I said unsure.

It would be awesome if Disneyland finally beats Magic Kingdom as most visited theme park. It's been close lately, mayne this will be Dl's year!

I don't think it will increase significantly at either resort, especially WDW. If you happen to be vacationing there on your birthday, or live within reasonable driving distance then it's a great thing to get a free ticket or gift card. For most families, I don't think they will be making a special "vacation" (as opposed to a one day trip for locals) just to be at the park on their birthday. I could see the promotion increasing attendance from locals at DL, but the incentive/draw isn't enough for families to plan their trip around a birthday , imho.

For example: My family travels to Disneyland 1-2 times a year. We usually stay 4-7 days. The last few years we've been there around Labor Day and my niece's birthday happens to be at that time so we've always celebrated her birthday in Disneyland. My nephew's birthday is in February. We've decided to all go to Disneyland for a mini 3 day vacation to celebrate his birthday and let him have his there too. However, the draw of the promotion isn't worth it for us to come a day earlier than we already are as we'll actually get to the resort late the night of his birthday. So, unfortunately we won't be able to take advantage of the promotion. Make sense?

I think it would be big for DL because there are more locals near Disneyland than near Disneyworld I believe.
