CGI films will crowd the market and then 2D animation will again be popular because it will be different.

Yeah, and Home on the Range was going to be hysterical and allow Disney to bow out of the traditional animation game in style.

Ok, the title, "overcrowding" has little to do with the meat and potatoes of the story. I do believe there will be, (and in most cases is), oversaturation of CGI movies. We just bought the Princess and the Pauper Barbie movie and it was done entirely in CGI, it actually looks pretty decent for a lower budget direct to DVD movie. I am afraid that since CGI is fairly easy to produce, Disney is just going along with the flow and not advancing in animation, but following everybody else. What I would like to see is something entirely new that fuses the two styles of hand drawn animation together with CGI in a way we have never seen it done before.

I bring this up becuase EVERYBODY is tinkering with CGI now. To me, that cheapens the medium and in 5 years the every animated feature and cartoon short will be CGI. It is sad becuase I feel the talents of the hand drawn animators has fallen by the wayside. I think some CGI is amazing, but I hope the studios find a way to fuse the two animation styles together, especially Disney.

true,Home on the Range was pretty disapointing, however I think Disney (especially Eisner) has ego issues with Pixar, and Disney/Eisner so badly wants to show Pixar and the world that they mean business and wont just let Pixar take all the glory.I think there is more at stake for Disney with thier CGI and I do beleive more efforts will be brought forth in making Chicken Little and the upcoming Disney CGI films "top notch" then there was to make Home on the Range top notch.

I basically think Disney gave up on Home on the Range and 2D in general,I beleive thier mentality with CGI is way different and I think it will show.Just my 2 cents.

Disney has 3 cgi films on the slate for next year so they are contributing to the chaos(Chicken Little, Cars, and Valiant).

This is why Disney should start develop a big old school musical 2D movie (like Aladin, Beauty or Lion King) now. Then when the market is over saturated with 3D Disney will have something ready to go.

This is the same year that will also see: Dreamworks' "Madagascar", Fathom's "Delgo", and Fox/Blue Sky's "Robots". Overcrowding, indeed.
