Corporate Fascism: Plain and Simple
Attention Hollywood: Boycott Disney
People in the film industry, regardless of their political leanings, have an obligation to demonstrate to Disney's board members that censorship will not be tolerated. Artists, if no others, must be willing to fight censorship.
If you are a writer, actor, director, composer, or whatever, and you continue to do business with Disney, as long as they block this film, then you will be on a whole new kind of Blacklist: the list of *****s who sold their principles to participate in another tainted release by a company who is threatening the foundations of our democracy.
The other new thing about this Blacklist, it will be online for everyone to read.
Do the right thing: Boycott Disney
I find it absolutely amazing that people can say this. Disney has as much right to do this as you or I would if we owned a store and wanted to remove someone from the doorway who was chanting and shouting political propaganda. I know someone out there agrees with me.

I'm not sure it's a liberal or conservative issue. I can't remember who said it, but I tend to think that the idea of the world being seperated into authoritarians and libertarians is far more acurate that the liberal and conservative dichotomy.

Disney must be doing something right, since they can manage to tick off both sides of the political spectrum.

Re: Now this is absurd...Boycott Disney?? Clueless liberals...
I thought the liberal's were smarter than that... freedom of speach does not guarantee you a venue.... just that you can make your statement, nothing has been done to stop the statement, Disney just chose not to participate, same as when all the standard chanels would not touch Mel gibsons movie, did he cry about the free speech idea... no he got off his butt found a distributor and made a crap load of george washingtons....
realistically how many out there want to see MM's movie anyhow??? and can disney afford any more box office bombs???DCA 1/2 the park, Same low price....

exactly...when you have a job, you don't have freedom of speech and Disney's job is not to uphold it. Just think of all the times a company has cut down a movie to get a certain rating...it that a silencing of the directors voice? I'm sure some directors have felt that way. Re: Now this is absurd...Boycott Disney?? Clueless liberals...
The whole problem goes back to Disney owning Miramax. It doesn't fit. Miramax movies are not Disney movies. And they shouldn't be. The two companies have incompatible philosophies...best in family entertainment vs. edgy artsy racy stuff. All of that is fine and good, but it doesn't belong at Disney. Likewise, the controversy sure to surround a film like Fahrenheit 9/11 is not something Disney needs. At all.
I'm glad that people are resorting to a blacklist to get people to boycott Disney. GIVE ME A BREAK. Do these people not know that in Hollywood, you take the jobs you can get? I smell extremism.

Exactly.

If the "liberals" (in this case), we boycotting Disney because of content issue, then I would be more tolerant of their cause. But crying censorship is weak.Refurb Mike

I hate it when people overreact to things like this. A movie is a movie, it's not like it's being banned from the country.

I can't tell exactly when they lost all their credibility. Maybe it was when they made the Hitler Mickey or when they called Disney "ho's".....
