Lightbulb NEWS:Robert Iger to woo Pixar??

This article is very interesting,it discusses the possiblity of Iger as the new CEO of Disney. It also talks about Iger trying to build a relationship with Pixar again....I have my doubts about Iger but after reading this article I feel a little better about him:

Quote:
Iger has been working hard to win over board members by pushing deals that could help Disney down the road. He's the point man with the Chinese government for a theme park in Shanghai. And sources say he's leading efforts to reopen talks with Steve Jobs's Pixar (PIXR ) animation studio, which created the computer-generated animated blockbusters The Incredibles and Finding Nemo. Jobs has said Pixar will end its co-production agreement with Disney next year after it completes their last film together, Cars, due to be released in summer, 2006.

Quote:
Jobs, who's expected to make a decision sometime this year about which studio will release his films, is known to dislike Eisner and has pledged not to return as long as the Disney CEO remains. "Steve Jobs doesn't like Michael and doesn't know Bob -- but is willing to let [Bob] make his case," says one source familiar with executives at both Pixar and Disney.

Re: NEWS:Robert Iger to woo Pixar??

I tend to think that if Disney's own CGI movies do well, they may not want to pursue a relationship with PIXAR anymore. Also, I'd be kind of surprised if Iger DIDN'T replace Eisner.

Re: NEWS:Robert Iger to woo Pixar??

Let's hope Iger is not so desperate to make a big initial splash that he agrees to something outlandish, such as giving Disney's rights to the characters from the first movies back to Pixar. I don't blame Jobs for demanding it, but Iger needs to be smart and not act to placate the fanboy community with a poor economic decision.

Re: NEWS:Robert Iger to woo Pixar??

Anyone remember what the Pixar guys said when they won the oscar for Finding Nemo last year? Something along the lines of "it's been great working with Bob Iger".
