So I have not said anything about this because it really creeped me out for a long time, and I was embarrassed I fell into it! When we were in Disneyland back in July, my daughter and I headed into the locker area on mainstreet to use the payphone, had to phone back home about an appropriate gift for 2 year old. Anyway, just as I was about to pick up the phone, it rang, it startled me, and I paused, it rang again, then a third time...I really should have just went to another phone, but you know what they say about curiosity....so I picked it up. me..."hello?" creepy voice..."hello" me like an oaf..."who is this?" creepy voice..."someone who's watching you, you better not hang up the phone...." (or something very similar to that) which of course I did right then. teenage daughter was literally hopping up and down asking "who is it? what did they say?"...she says she knew by the look on my face and the fact I went all white it was not good. I was actually shaking. I naively thought when it was ringing, it may be something the park does, it would be Mickey or another character on there saying they hoped you were having a good day....dumb I know. In Canada, we have *69 which will tell you the number that was calling, but that did not work. anyway I went over to city hall to tell them about it, but other than apologising (told him it was obviously not their fault no need to apologise) there was obviously nothing they could do. Also up in Canada, you are unable to phone pay phones. I think this is a good thing! Has anyone else had something like this happen to them? Can't imagine the sickey that would have to have gone into the park and gotten the telephone number off the payphone so he could go home and make crank calls to the park. Freaking demented, needs to get a life. I won't be answering any ringing payphones in the US from now on!

Yes, there are a lot of sick people out there who think scaring the living daylights out of people is funny. I put them in the same catagory as people who think saying "I have a bomb" as the board a plane is funny.

someone said it sounded like that movie phonebooth, so I went and listened to it, and the voice was nearly the same. probably some pathetic person with nothing better to do, thought it was funny rather than trying to be harmfull. (my nickname is Pollyanna, always have to try and find the best in everthing and everyone...) Trouble is, I went through a really bad episode many years ago with real crank calls. Had to change my number and go unlisted and all, (creepy guy saying he was going to make me remember him...) that was traumatising and it brought it all back.

the *69 thing would not work at the payphone, don't know why, maybe they had blocked their number then. Anyway, see??!! I feel better already telling you guys!! no big deal right? like I said, someone who probably thought it was funny, rather than trying to be harmful.

Too much information is out on the internet nowadays. Too much info, and too many creepy people. These kinds of people just need to get a life. It's so sad that someone would have nothing better to do than to call a DL pay phone to have a little....well, what they view as fun.

I'd fine it funny if I was the person doing it, but i would have the living sh*ts scared of me. I'm surprised you can call DLR pay phones a lot of pay phones you can't call.
