What was Jimmy Kimmel thinking? ABC Upfront Presentation

    http://artsbeat.blogs.nytimes.com/20...s-upfronts/?hp

If ABC is so confident in its new fall shows, he asked, why is it announcing them at the same time it announces the midseason shows that will replace those fall shows? “This show ‘Shark Tank’ has the word tank right in the title,” he said.

To the ABC advertisers, Mr. Kimmel said, “Every year we lie to you and every year you come back for more. You don’t need an upfront. You need therapy. We completely lie to you, and then you pass those lies onto your clients.”

In closing, Mr. Kimmel said, “I think all our shows are going to work this year. I really do.” He paused. “I don’t, really.”

Before departing the stage, he said: “The important thing to remember is: who cares, it’s not your money.”
OK, these jokes might work with the public, but you are a COMPLETE Moron to say those things to folks who are looking to invest in your product, and pay to advertise on your network...

And if you care, here is the announced ABC fall Schedule....

It's self-deprecating humor. That's always been his style. Fox shows do it all the time, Simpsons, Family Guy, and Married with Children did/do make fun of the network all the time.

Networks in general as seen as big evil corporations so to call them out for their evil ways is funny, it's even funnier to do it on your own network.

Don't you think the whole reason he brought all the shows up was because he was told to BY the network? Plus, if they wanted a holy halo around them while they were being presented I'm sure they would have told him to lay off the sarcasm and I'm sure they would have utilized other means if they wanted a puff piece.

Not sure what the big deal is?

I'm addicted to Disneyland. Disneyland hobbies are expensive. If I become a bum people are going to say "Don't give him money, he's just gonna use it on Disneyland."

At the Emmy's one year Conan O'Brien completely ripped on NBC in a song. It was hilarious, and Kimmel's shots at the Upfronts, which are kind of retarded anyway, was awesome too.

Kimmel always does that each year at the Upfronts, like dlfreak said, its self-deprecating humor. I don't think there's any harm to it.

Jimmy Kimmel is just hilarious. He's my favorite of all the late night talk shows.

And yay! Flashforward is going to be on Thursdays! Thursdays this year were so boring because nothing was on.
