No Longer Best Of Both Worlds: A DVD Review Of Hannah Montana Forever:Final Season

Hi my name is Becca and I enjoy Hannah Montana. I’m the first one to admit that even though I will be turning thirty this year, I have followed Hannah since the beginning, and a part of me is disappointed to see the series leave the airwaves... or I guess now-a-days it's fiber-optics, right?

For those of you who may have been trapped in a bubble for the past four plus years, and know little about the Hannah Montana series, Miley Stewart is a typical teenager to all her friends at school and where she lives in Malibu, but only a few people really know she is actually pop sensation “Hannah Montana.”

Miley leads a double life so she can attend a normal school and have every experience a typical teenager should have. But it seldom ends up that way, and in this final season Miley struggles with going off to college, telling the world her secret, and a huge movie opportunity.

Hannah Montana Forever: Final Season includes all thirteen final season episodes which is a great inclusion on this two disc set since most of the Disney Channel DVD’s give you mix and match episodes, so you have to buy five of them to get a complete season. Also special about this DVD is the case. It’s a collectible memory book that includes show history, trivia; also we receive a Hannah Montana photograph with her signature.

While heavy on the episodes this final farewell is light on the features. We only get three features for a two disc collection. I was a bit disappointed in seeing this, and I actually checked twice just to make sure there was none I was missing on the first disc.

An Alternate Ending: This short feature shows a little girl at the airport playing with a Hannah Montana doll while Lilly and Miley say their goodbyes. The camera then fades out and shows the same girl twelve years later as a young Miley Cyrus playing with a Hannah doll saying she is a rock star.

Her then real parents Tish and Billy Ray Cyrus come in and tell the little girl she can do whatever she wants when she follows her dreams. It’s a very cute alternate ending especially them recognizing this T.V. show was basically Miley Cyrus’s dream and she was able to accomplish it.

From Auditions to Wrap: The Cast Looks Back is a look at all of the casts audition tapes, and spend some time talking about how the kids grew up on the set. They show some important milestones that each kid has had on set as well. Most of the cast has remained the same, so they reflect as a family how hard it will be to say goodbye. They also show some great behind the scenes footage from them shooting the very last scenes of Hannah Montana.

Cast Goodbyes has the cast sitting around the couch and thanking everyone that has been a part of the series, including the fans.

While I might not be a diehard Miley fan, I do think that she is very talented. And Hannah Montana was a great series for any fan of those genera.

I loved how the series tackled some serious issues and not just the same dilemma all the time of whether she should tell her secret or not. I think overall between the movie and the series it was very well written and I’m sad to see it end.

    THE END!
