Hong Kong, as a special administrative region, is still democratic and capitalist. It's pretty much autonomous from China. The only thing China provides Hong Kong is military. China has very little control over Hong Kong's government.

This is for the best. Disney needs to abandon Paul Pressler's "Plant the Flag" strategy. If more parks are built in China, they should be clustered on the Hong Kong site.

Hardly, China controls who gets "democratically" elected based on the roster that it controls.

Hong Kong is perceived as democratic, but it really isn't. China merely tries to convey a good capitalistic system, but sooner or later, there will be a confrontation for those who seek true democracy.

China has already perfected its capitalistic system so it would not be impacted with its continual authoritarian rule. Eventually, it will bring Hong Kong closer to the fold... little by little until democracy in Hong Kong would be almost irrelevant.

If you think DCA is a good idea with cheap infrastructure based on the fact that the guests do not spend much inside the park, what do you think a Shanghai park will mean?

The Shanghai residents will not only resist the high admission costs, which is comparable to Disney prices around the world; they will also NOT purchase the "made in China" toys at American prices.

Then, the Chinese family will think bringing their one child middle class family to Shanghai Disneyland to be the most expensive trip to the park EVER with no available spending money leftover.

Hong Kong Disneyland isn't exactly doing so well. This is where you should base your analysis on and NOT some hypothetical statistic on the population. Many local theme parks have failed. The crowds are not there. People don't care.

why dont they build a disneyland park in Mexico City. it is one of the largest cities in the world and its very beautiful there, ive been there many times. Plus is had vast culutral differences that I think would be more suitable for a disneyland than shanghi.
