Read the full article here:Meanwhile, city officials disclosed that Shanghai Disneyland, the first Disneyland on China's mainland, will include three theme parks.
Details had been made public of one of the parks, "Magic Kingdom." The possible choices for the other two theme parks are "Epcot" and "Animal Kingdom," delegates at Shanghai People's Congress were told yesterday.

Possible Second and Third Shanghai Parks
Yes, our world has indeed become a world of motion. We have engineered marvels that take us swiftly over land and sea, through the air, and into space itself. And still bolder and better ideas are yet to come. Ideas that will fulfill our age old dream to be free. Free in mind. Free in spirit. Free to follow the distant star of our ancestors to a brighter tomorrow. - World of Motion (1982-1996)

It's incredibly premature for them to be discussing the possibility (well... it'll happen, it just takes time) of a second or third park. WDI is barely getting ready to build Shanghai Disneyland. But the absolute truth of it is that the presentations that were made based on Epcot and Animal Kingdom were sort of a "Eventually, we could do this, or this..." sort of thing. Just a general dog and pony show to sell the Shanghai municipal government on the idea.
All in time... but one park at a time.

I would be willing to bet a significant amount of cash money that there will never be an Epcot-like park again.

I would actually say that a concept of an Epcot style park in Shanghai is actually genius. It's probably the best candidate for an Epcot 2.0 in my opinion. But again, it's way, way too early to suggest any theme for anything beyond Disneyland itself.

Who knows, perhaps an Epcot-style park based around technology and international cooperation would fly over there. If so, it would be about the only place I could ever see another Epcot popping up. It would be great for Epcot at WDW, though, as Shanghai might end up financing the development for some decent new attractions and an update of the park's vision which is sorely needed at the existing park as it slowly becomes a bit of an incoherent mess.
This is rather jumping the gun, though!

Agreed, Shanghai already looks like the city of tomorrow from Meet the Robinsons. An EPCOT there could be great, at least one that features on the Future World segment. Not sure a World Showcase would be a success.

I'm addicted to Disneyland. Disneyland hobbies are expensive. If I become a bum people are going to say "Don't give him money, he's just gonna use it on Disneyland."
Disneyland. My Anti-drug.
