TDR - Transportation from Tokyo Westin to TDR
What would be the easiest way to get from the Westin Tokyo in Ebisu to TDR? I saw they have a direct bus from Shinjuku, but the last bus leaves at around 10:00 AM, and that is a bit early for me.
How much would a taxi cost? If I take the subway and train, what would be the easiest connection? Via Shinjuku or Tokyo Station? Thanks! |

DO NOT TAKE TAXI!!!! A taxi in Tokyo can be around $75 or more from Shinyuku to TDR, one way!
I do not know exactly where the Westin is in relation to Shinyuku Station, so I can not help you there but, if I had to travel from Shinyuku to TDR, what I would do is to take the JR Chuo Line to Tokyo Station (about 14 minutes) then transfer to the JR Keiyo Line from Tokyo Station to Maihama (about another 14 minutes). The fare would be in the vecinity of 600 yen. |

Hi Mike.
The Westin Hotel in Ebisu Garden is located by JR Ebisu Station. The easiest way to get to TDR from there is to take JR Saikyo Line towards Shin-Kiba. And then take JR Keiyo/Musashino Lines to TDR. Here are step by step instructions: 1. Walk across the Ebisu Garden complex towrds the moving walkway leading you to the train station. 2. Upon entering the station gates, take the first platforms on your left or right for Saikyo Line (blue-green colored signs). 3. Take Saikyo Line to Shin-Kiba Station. (On the way, the train line's name changes to "Rinkai Line", but don't worry. Stay on the train until you reach SHIN-KIBA station.) Takes about 20-25 minutes and costs about 300yen. 4. At Shin-Kiba, exit the Rinkai Line station and enter the JR Keiyo Line station. Use the elevators to the platform and take either Keiyo or Musashino Lines towards TDR at Maihama Station. You'll want to board trains going away from Tokyo. (5-7 minutes, 160 yen) TO RETURN: 1. Use Maihama Station and go towards Tokyo. 2. Get off at Shin-Kiba and get on Rinkai Line towards Omiya/Kawagoe/Ozaki. 3. Stay on Rinkai Line even after the name changes to Saikyo Line. 4. Get off at Ebisu Station. If you have any more questions, please let us know. Thanks. JoeInJpn http://www.jtcent.com

Guys! Thank you so much for your tips.
I found a website http://www.japanhomesearch.com/travelexpert/te_main.asp that shows how to get from one station to another. This website shows the quickest trip with only one change using the Eidan/Hibiya line and changing at Hatchobori and this is 400 Yen. We will be going one way as we are staying at the Hilton Tokyo Bay for the rest of our trip. We will be taking luggage with us on this journey. Is it easier to take luggage (one piece each) on the subway or JR line? Thanks again for all your help. |

I knew JoeInJpn would come thur for you Mike!
Bringing luggage on trains is not a problem, however, if possible, do try to use the wheelchair wide turnstyles if available. Be aware that you may or may not have to go up and down escalators (there are elevators at most stations as well). Also be aware of rush hours (6am-10am/4pm-9pm) those are the times I find the trains to be at their most crowded and bringing luggage when it's "sardines in a can" hours might be a trying experience, especially since pushing and shoving to get on and off trains is a normal occurence. |

I plan to do something that last morning in the Tokyo area, before checking out of the hotel. Therefore, our "transfer" to the TDR area will be after noon, so I dont think I will have a problem with rush hour.
Of course ... all this is subject to change depending on what happens when we are there. I try to be flexible and "go where the wind takes me." |
