Question Anyone know anything about the 25th Anniversary?

Hi ho. I was just looking over the NFFC webpage, and they were mentioning that 4/2008 is going to be Tokyo Disneyland's 25th Anniversary. Does anyone know if they'll be doing anything special? I think the NFFC is thinking of forming a group to go.

They also mentioned that the Hilton Tokyo Bay is already taking reservations for that time--around $150/night which is a vast improvement over the usual rates I see for it.

Anyone planning to go? Or is it too far in advance?

Tokyo Disneyland's 25th will feature two new parades- a new daytime one and a new nighttime one. Both are being worked on by Disney Creative Entertainment at this time. I am sure the park may have a new castle stage show, as well as other smaller entertainment offerings. Attraction wise, Monster's Inc.: Hide and Seek is planned for Tomorrowland, but I have heard that that particular attraction will not open until the tail end of the anniversary. Space Mountain is also getting a modest makeover.
There will be the new Tokyo DL Hotel, and the new Cirque theatre, but both are outside the park.
That is all I know as of right now. All subject to change, of course.

Of all those new offerings, I'm looking forward to the nighttime parade the most. Partly to see what new idea DCE comes up with, and partly because that means us stateside people may have a chance at grabbing Dreamlights from TDL.

No, we would probably not get that. We'd be lucky if we even got the basic riggings for the floats, but a parade as long as Dreamlights? Probably not.

I'd be very surprised if we don't get a budget version of the parade.

I'd like to congratulate Joe on being fluent in at least two more languages than me!

I think I'm going to miss the 25th at TDR by a just a few months. Which makes me sad.

Ahh thanks Goin2Disneyland, but living in Japan, I've lost a lot of my Spanish.

While April 2008 is TDL's 25th birthday, celebrations will probably begin in January 2008 and continue to March 2009. Just my guess.

By the way, when are you thinking of visiting?

Honestly, I have not heard of any plans for Dreamlights use after it ends. All I heard was that they would most likely not destroy it. Whether it goes to any other park or not hasn't even been decided.
For all we know, they could change their minds and keep it at TDL. or it could just sit in a warehouse for who knows how long.

Yes, it is longer than the US parades, but I wouldn't prematurely judge what any other park or entertainment dept. might do with it.

After what WDW did with Cinderellabration? I'm sorry, but I can't help but have that biasisness now. WDW took a very beautiful and romantic show that happens once or twice during the night and turned it into a budgeted castle show that happens five to six times a day while butchering key moments of the show by adding unneeded dialoge. Heck, they took out King and Queen Mickey and Minnie!! They took out the mouse from the original version! How can I not prematurely judge them as to what they may do if they get Dreamlights with such an action like that under their belt?

As for what TDL may do, I doubt they will keep them in a warehouse for long. TDL is known for recycling their floats, either in the basic structure or in the shapes in general. There have been several train floats that have been torn down and rebuilt just for their holiday shows in the past. If they do keep them in a warehouse, that is a very surprising move on their part.
