I'm planning a trip to Japan in a few months and am trying to figure out how long I need to properly see Tokyo Disney and Disney Sea. Unfortunately I have only a limited amount of time so have to try to fit as much in as possible. I've allocated at least 2 days and maybe 3, what are other's experiences?
I'm also hoping on a quick trip to Hong Kong as well and want to see their Disney but I'm only allowing 1 day for that as I'm told it's not very big. I know this question is in the wrong area but would that be enough?

Visiting Tokyo Disney

Personally, I think two days for Tokyo Disneyland Resort will be enough. Of course, you're not going to be able to see everything in those two days, but there's so much amazing stuff to see in Japan that it seems like a waste to me to spend too much time at the Resort if you're under time constraints. Especially if you've been to the Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World.
However, if your desire is to see the place top to bottom two days will not be enough.
One day should also be fine at Hong Kong Disneyland unless you're going during a national holiday when the place gets slammed (of course, the same holds true for Tokyo Disneyland).
When are you planning on traveling?

thanks Mark. I haven't been fortunate enough to go to Disney World, though that is a dream for another time. I did get to go to the Original back in 1999 and loved it. I hope to one day be able to say I've visited them all but for the moment it's just one and by the time my next holiday is done I hope to be able to say I've now visited 3. I will be going late October and returning early November. Unfortunately I've already booked the tickets and can't change the dates without significant costs (probably at least what I paid again). I wish I'd known more about what Japan had to offer before I booked. Initially I was just planning on visiting Hong Kong because of their Disney but when cheap fares became available to Japan I took them and thought just seeing Disney would be enough and the rest of the time could be spent in Hong Kong. I now see that's not possible because there's so much more and so little time.

Okie dokie, depends on when you go. If you can avoid it, don't go weekends.
TDS is awesome, you can do the major attractions in around a day if you're a disney veteran and are willing to skip some of the minor attractions.
TDL, lines are phenominal at times and fastpass runs out in the first 2 hours or so of the day. When I went (although it had been snowing the previous week and was the first sunny day), the line for Space Mountain was 2 hours+ 15 minutes after opening.
Some of the attractions there are unbelievable, and DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES MISS POOH!
Jungle Cruise does not offer english translations, however, many other attractions will either have english subtitles, a handout english translation sheet, or a headset you can borrow with english audio translations. The CMs are pretty switched on with the english people and you'll be having a form of translation shoved in your hands before you even realise it's not in english.
Oh, and try the maple churros in Adventureland, near the entrance to Splash.
If you have a spare day and have seen the rest of what Tokyo has to offer, take the third day at TDL.
Make sure you check out Shinjuku at night, as well as the fishmarkets (5am start though!) and the Harajuku girls.Just because we're at war, doesn't mean we can't be civilised...

Are you going to be visiting the resort before October 31st? If so, by all means you MUST visit TDL!! Their Halloween celebrations are lightyears ahead of the US parks, and are definitely a must-see.

I'm still trying to work out my schedule but it does look like I'll be there before then, probably some time during the last week of October. We don't do much Halloween stuff here in Australia so it might be interesting to see it from a Disney perspective.

What times of year do you think you should avoid TDL and TDS???? I am thinking of going to these resorts maybe in 2010. Am not at all familiar with Japan +/or Tokyo. If there is no english translation on the attraction can you still enjoy them????? All I wnow is Komeshewa and Sionaryia. Both spelled incorrectly Im sure. Is there a slow time of year to go?????
