    IASW Facade Recreation?

According to Screamscape: "The latest update about the Small World rehab claims that they will attempt to recreate the classic entrance facade from the Disneyland version on the inside of the building."

I don't get it. Don't they already have sort of a recreation on the inside?

No. The entrance area at WDW is pretty lame compared to DL.

    Here's what it looks like...

But what more could they do to make it look like DL's? It doesn't seem like there is enough space on the inside.

Thank God. WDW's IASW is just so awful, and to go on that just defines the whole outdatedness of the park. It's like taking out Horizons from Epcot. There's just that one really lame thing that needs to be replaced or dramatically redone because gives the park a bad name. I think IASW is MK's Horizons. Redo it, please. Then redo the Indy Speedway, Space Mountain, and the look of MK's Fantasyland, and I will say it's better than Disneyland. Mark my words.

Did you really think the actual ride was that bad? I thought it seemed a little dark, but other than that it didn't seem any worse. Mind you, I've only been on it once, so my memory of it is a little fuzzy.

    Re: IASW Facade Recreation?

The ride itself is basically just as good as DL's, but my favorite thing in DL is to see the amazing facade hundreds of feet away, then to approach it, get on the ride, go through the beautiful landscaping, and into the ride. MK's has the attitude that it's your average FL dark ride, because it's just some hole in the wall of a side path of Fantasyland. Also, I might be crazy, but it seemed that the whol building inside smelled like something was rotting. Another thing I am probably crazy for-isn't MK's shorter?

The only commendable thing about MK's IASW is that the water's flooded to the sets. The rest of it I dislike. I don't know why, but it just seems so run down and ugly. Like, 1970's ugly, rather than a charming "Peace on Earth" attitude of DL's. MK's is like "Here, you Disney freaks. We cloned it. Now have fun. Get out of my site."

There just doesn't seem to be the heart in MK's IASW.

That is by far the least flattering interior fascade pic I have ever seen..

The whole wavy-sun ceiling is kind of cool and very Mary Blair, don't see too many pics of it on the web though.. Also the Pinnochio Village haus restaurant has big glass windows that looks down on the boarding area of the ride. The actual exterior itself is as big as it can possibly be - that area in FL gets slammed daily beign the worst bottleneck in WDW (between small world and peter pan leading to haunted mansion) so I don't think anyone really wants it to expand and be more elaborate outside, but rather perhaps just more to the painted wall and rope lights on the interior.

Also, talkin to a few DL'er friends, I found they were amazed to learn we have no clock. So, maybe we'll finally get a clock?

I agree, but it was the only one I could find on-line. It doesn't seem to be a popular photo subject.

I wonder if they have any plans for the old Skyway station (I assume that's what the building west of IASW is)? There isn't really any room to put anything else in that space because HM is right behind it. If they reworked the entrance of IASW in that direction, it would open up the corridor - which just becomes a stroller parking lot once Fantasyland gets busy.

In fact, the exterior picture I posted above was taken just after 10am (if the clock on my camera was correct), after a 9am open, so the park was still pretty empty. Look at how many strollers are already parked in front of IASW, and it was a walk-on at the time (you can almost make out the "0 minute" wait time on the sign).
