I used to work for a cruise line (not Disney) and I always recommended people consider trip insurance if the cruise was in September or October because that's when we got the most complaints about weather affecting the trip. Personally, if I were you I'd get some insurance on it. Most likely you won't need it, but the chances of something happening to affect the cruise are much greater around that time of year.Originally Posted by ocnative1964

"All my regrets in the end will be clothing." -Jerry Seinfeld
NOTE TO READERS: YellowMan has been known to joke around from time to time. Please don't take some posts by him to their full, literal meaning. Doing so will most likely end in one of the following: making a fool of YellowMan, making a fool of yourself, making a fool of Ronald Reagan, drymouth, or in rare cases, death. Thank you and enjoy your stay.

Sorry I was not aware WDW was not also turning 50 this year. For some reason I was under the impression that they opened the same time. I saw the dedication on the commercial and all?

maybe this closure was GOD's way to tell the marketing team over in Orlando to tell the truth a bit better.
yeah with 8 hurricanes hitting the state in 2 years and the fact that we will be on a boat, the insurance would be a good idea.
what all does it cover?
anyone actually use it?
thanks.DCA 1/2 the park, Same low price....

I don't see why everyone is making such a big deal out of it, personally. The commercial, not the hurricane. It doesn't say it's WDW's 50th. It's supposed to insinuate that it's the "50th anniversary of Disney theme parks", which is exactly what WDW is celebrating. You knew they would. Whether or not they should be is debatable, and lord knows they always stretch a celebration past it's welcome so as to milk it for all it's worth, but that's besides the point.

We were supposed to be there this past weekend, but cancelled due to other reasons at the last minute. I have friends that stayed at WDW during the first time they ever closed the parks due to weather, and they were relocated to higher ground facilities.
On our last trip this past May, we saw the remnants of last years storms, trees broken and felled etc. The view from Artist Point Restaurant was improved, as one could see the lake better from all the trees that came down around Wilderness Lodge.
October is still within the hurricane season, but we always go then, and have great weather, and less crowds.

Its the words used in the comercial that are misleading and completely wrong.
They show Walt Disney in front of Disneylands Mainstreet with a superimposed cinderella castle then they say "Come and join us as we celebrate our 50th borthday at Walt Disney World" or some sh..... like that.
So what happens they get bad weather all year. I think Mr Disney is upset and has been asking mother nature to make it extra wet and windy.

The commercial doesn't say it's WDW's 50th birthday.
And if the all-powerful spirit of Walt is mad, he's gonna have to do better than that. Or at least aim a little higher next time. We got nothing more than what were used to up here.

You're right. It all but says it's WDW's 50th birthday. Their castle is decorated, there's a floating gold 50 in the sky above it, and they try to pass it off like Walt was there 50 years ago when WDW opened. It's deliberate.
Walt is angry, I called Miss Cleo last night and she told me.Jaleel White does not approve.
