Here's a new rumor regarding the Disney-MGM name change. Hadn't heard this one before...
http://www.mouseplanet.com/articles.php?art=wd060905mg…We are hearing that some cast members are being told in staff meetings that the Disney-MGM Studios will be renamed to the Disney-Pixar Studios, but no time frame has yet been given.

Disney-Pixar Studios?

That's interesting, but doesn't make much sense as the park is now. There isn't much PIXAR there at the moment, not as much as there is at DCA, for sure. They're getting Midway Mania, but other than that, where's all the PIXAR?

Where is all the MGM, for that matter?

^ Well, there's far more of that, in TGMR than there is PIXAR in the whole park. I think they should call it "The Disney Studios", like they do at DLP, and call it a day. Why does it always need TWO names?

I agree completely, df62. Or maybe call it Disney's Hollywood Studios, like they've introduced at DCA.

I would agree with you 100%, except that the name "Walt Disney Studios" is already used for a theme park. I suppose they could go "Disney Studios - Orlando"...but then they should have had a "Disney Studios - Paris" as well.
Who knows. The web sites have been saying for how many years now that they're getting rid of the "MGM" in the name? I'll believe this rumor when I see it.

They could just rename it Disney-Sony Studios, since Sony owns MGM...
...but it would cost 599 U.S. dollars to get in!

Just a side note, when we're at WDW, pretty much ALL the people there call the park simply "MGM". Kind of funny that they're thinking of dropping the part of the name that it's MOST known for...

Lord have mercy! I hope they don't use that name. The original name is much better and the park is famous for being called simply MGM.
Also, I hope it isn't a sign for more Pixar stuff in the future.
