Pardon my language but this is ********, Jay Rasulo needs to be fired. After the 1.1B makeover, DCA might as well change its name to WDW In One Park.

I agree, and i have a feeling that WDW management will also try to get the attraction built fatser so that it could again brag that it opened a few months or year earlier. DCA's is not schedule to open till 2011.

I guess WDW is also getting a 1.1 Billion Dollar Makeover too.

I'm trying to figure out why people care so much when they clone an attraction. I mean, other than "this sucks I wanted it to be only at DCA" I don't get what the real heart of the issue is, and why people think it's such a bad thing.
Haunted Mansion, Splash Mountain, Space Mountain, PotC... all of the most popular Disney classics have been at both parks for decades. Should they be torn down just so one coast's fanatics can say "heehee we're the only ones with ___________
"
I, for one, am glad that the people who might not have the money to make more than a rare trip to a Disney park will get to experience some of the best Disney has to offer without having to miss out because they could only afford a trip to one coast. It's best for Disney business wise, and there are, and will continue to be unique E-tickets that only come to one park: Expedition Everest, Radiator Springs (the land and the Racers attraction), Indiana Jones Adventure, Rock'n'Roller coaster, etc. Aside from occasional clones to save money or due to popularity (ToT, TSMM, Little Mermaid), there are still plenty of unique things at each coast.
Sometimes it just seems like people are selfish and want unique attractions at "their" park just so they can brag about it. I'm not saying that any of you specifically feel that way, it's just that sometimes that's how it really looks to me, and I find it hard to see any reason other than that one for being so against cloning something like Little Mermaid.

You're right.
I want all my kids to look and act exactly the same.
No originality.
NOW do you get why we care? We want each to be unique, not a collection of McDonalds with no personality. Sheesh.

Let's take a look at Haunted Mansion. It's at DLR, it's at TDR, it's at WDW, and it's at DLRP. They are all unique in their own right. Sure some are similar, but I love to go and see the rides differences. With the new rides, like TSMM, the ride itself is an exact clone. Imagine if all the Haunted Mansion rides, all the POTC rides, all the Fantasyland dark rides were the same at every single resort. Why would I bother with WDW's MK? Why would I bother with going to TDL or DLP? I want a new experience, not the same stuff.
If WDW gets TLM too, it seems of less value to me. It's just that one ride at both parks. Sure it will be great and I will probably enjoy it, but it's not unique anymore. Alice In Wonderland ride is only at Disneyland. It's unique there. If I were going to Disneyland having lived in Florida I would be excited to ride that as it's something new and fresh.
I don't want the parks to be identical. They're not now, but their future looks to be that. If they made The Little Mermaid ride a la original style that was proposed to DLP at WDW, I wouldn't be upset. Slightly different ride and it would be a different experience. Something unique. If it's honestly a carbon copy of ours, then why would I bother?
WDW has 3 other parks with almost all original attractions found there. Disneyland has only a handful of original attractions. That's the only reason I have a problem with it at WDW. The rest is based on uniqueness in the parks/originality.
