Does Spaceship Earth need a washing, or what? The reason I say this is because whenever I am looking at pictures from the 80s when Spaceship Earth was brand, new, it was all metallic. Overtime it appears to be whitened.
Is this due to lack of washing, or is the material's color just changing under the weather conditions? It looks so futuristic all silvery in the day. Not that it doesn't already, but it REALLY does with that shimmer.

I think it has faded a little over time in the Florida sun

You'd think it would have an awesome tan being out in the sun that long.

I think perhaps the difference is in the time of day and season. I have several pictures from the same season and the color is very different. So if a person is comparing pictures only, it could look very different depending on the condition under which the picture was taken. Can it be really true KNRG, that that material will never change color?
Why don't they make houses out of that material, think of the savings on paint.

If you don't believe me, take a look at any picture from 1982. It is clearly silvery metallic. Take a look at any picture from the 2000s and it is clearly a metallic white.
1982 partly cloudy:
2008 (slightly cloudy):
2008: no clouds
Many more examples abound, just do some Googling and you'll see what I mean. Clouds and weather may have some effect, but it seems like SSE has clearly grown "whiter" over time. Can anyone else see the difference here?Last edited by Mortimer; 09-12-2008 at 08:34 PM. Reason: Deleted OP's post.

Color correct the first picture for the fact that the performers are well-documented in having worn bright white costumes - not off-white or yellowish ones.

Put your hand over the performers, and take a look.
Or, if you don't believe my observations, how do you explain this?

Well here is my comparison on the change in one day..........it is what the picture captures:

It's just the fact that it's a 20 year old image. Color correction makes it look a lot more like today's SE:

(I cut out the logo so as not to affect the color correction of the photograph)
Considering you can't match the lighting conditions, it's hard to tell if SE has changed at all over the years. I doubt it.
In Alpha's post, take a look at the SE image in the lower left hand corner. Looks fine to me.
