What have your experiences been using the WDW dining plan?

We snapped it up for free once during a promo in 2008, and it was fabulous. I wrang every last dollar out of Disney by eating at the most expensive, non-Signature restaurants I could find. It was great. Haven't paid for it yet - it seems to me it's only worth it if you don't eat in Signature joints, as one Signature meal makes the DDP not very cost effective.

We go in Dec. and will do the numbers to see how we come out on our dining plan vs if we just paid cash for the items. I'll post a review when we get back.

I am someone who really enjoys the signature restaurants, but doesn't each much (if any) quick service or snack food.... I'd love to see a breakdown showing how the Dining plan might work for someone like me... someone who likes a sit down lunch at a (non-signature) table service restaurant, and a sit down dinner at a signature location, almost every day... but might just have a snack for breakfast (fruit/juice/bagel) or something like that.
