What I REALLY don't like is the Refundable Tax Credits that are part of Senator Obama's plan, including the increasing of the Earned Income Tax Credit.

Such credits are not tax cuts. Indeed, they should be called The New Tax Welfare. In effect, Mr. Obama is proposing to create or expand a slew of government spending programs that are disguised as tax credits. The spending on these programs is then subtracted from the total tax burden, in order to make the claim that his tax plan is a net tax cut overall.

You know, with no regard to either candidate's tax plans, people kvetch and moan about rich people not paying enough taxes.

HELLO.

They pay ALL the taxes. Why? Because they make the most money. It's ludicrous. Do you think people below the poverty line pay much in taxes, if any? No. I'm above the poverty line and I get most of my taxes back year in and year out, plus this year I got a damn stimulus check.

Rich people pay the overwhelming majority of taxes. And by overwhelming, I mean OVERWHELMING. Now if Obama wants to raise their taxes even higher, raise taxes on capital gains, death and whatever else our parasite government can come up with to tax us on, that's fine...but don't think it won't have an economic impact. People who are worth millions have no problem getting up and leaving and taking their business to a more "appreciative" economy...like Panama or Costa Rica. But thank God Charles Rangel is on the loose, protecting us from these tax evading monsters.

Honestly, the solution is not to raise or cut taxes on anybody.

The federal government needs to drastically reduce its spending. That means no more socialist bailouts of failing companies that their friends are running. No more frivolous programs. Do what any financially responsible individual SHOULD be doing in this economy: cut the fat, get out of debt and make every dollar count.

As Chavez has stated, where is the candidate outcry for that to happen?

I was reading John McCain's quote about how the "fundamentals of the economy are strong" and he is correct. Since we have, for the most part, a free market system, it has the advantage that when something screws up, it ultimately gets back together again. For other folks to say that because of the current crises we are facing at the moment that the fundamentals of the economy are BAD, well, that's just plain wrong.

Boy, every liberal that complains about Fox and their bias have no problems at all quoting CNN. Like they're totally impartial. People didn't used to call them the Clinton News Network for nothing.

CNN's latest poll of polls, out Thursday afternoon, shows him ahead of McCain by 3 points, 47 percent to 44 percent.
The poll of polls consists of four recent surveys: CBS/NYT (September 12-16), Gallup (September 15-17), Diageo/Hotline (September 14-16) and American Research Group (September 13-15). It does not have a sampling error.

Well, one of those polls has an + or - error of 3 points. That puts it at least at a dead heat.

What they mean is that it is an average of the poll numbers and thus there is no sampling error within that average... but, yeah, it's a dead heat as it has been for all but the past few weeks.
