Okay. So how about some not-so-petty allegations?
Obama has no experience to speak of, other than having the distinction of being the most liberal state senator in Illinois, a voting record he continued in the US Senate. Though he claims to be a uniter and constantly babbles about so-called "change", Obama has not only been unable to unite his own party, but he is consistently out-of-touch with the average voting American as polls have indicated. His wife is a loose cannon who routinely spews venomous hatred about America and its people, all the while encouraging lower class Americans to stay where they are economically and not pursue higher incomes. His policies, as outlined on his website, are rife with words like "double funding". He plans to pursue costly and unworthy energy alternatives like ethanol, instead of actually using the oil we have to get us off our foreign dependence while we shift towards a different fuel system. He is willing to throw untold billions at the laughable topic of "climate change" (scientists just reported that the earth has entered a 15 year cooling cycle. The hubris we have to think we can honestly alter the earth's atmospheric course...it's ridiculous). He plans on taking all troops from Iraq in a quick 16 months. Yeah, that'll solve the problem. "Hey enemy! We're leaving! Ciao!" He thinks the federal government can enforce a law that would require illegals to learn English. Okay. His grand plan to save social security is to increase the amount of income you can be taxed on. Yay! More taxes! Punish the people who have gained the skills necessary to earn money and give their rightfully-owned cash to people who haven't gained the skills! That's the socialis...I mean American way! Got a loan you shouldn't have? That's okay, we'll tax the responsible people who didn't do that and make them pay for your irresponsibility. And he claims that the national debt is a huge problem and that he is all for fiscal discipline, yet all his other policies would exponentially increase the federal government's budget, not only creating more debt, but making our completely inept federal government even bigger, with more control over our lives.
So there you go. A policy argument that Barack Obama would be a HORRIBLE president.
These are generic Democratic Vs. Republican arguments though.
McCain is also an climate change/environmental freak, which is rare for a Repub. Probably just trying to reach out to the Dems.

Yes this exactly what I fear
I think I find it interesting that in a day and age when tolerance and Political Correctness is the pillars of a "progressive" worldview that this issue is just glossed over with you. If the shoe was on the other foot it would be unacceptable why is it ok for Obama?
ummm Ok, don't you have to win the primary first

AS I've said before, your pastor, your FAITH leader has a direct route to your heart and mind. People don't have preachers that spew racist intolerant views unless somewhere deep down they believe it.

I know next to nothing about Bush I, so I cannot comment.
So what about the people in Iraq? Is it morally right for us to not finish what we started and leave them hanging, unprotected in a civil war? We can't undo what has been done, we now have to make the best of the situation we have...and I don't believe giving up and saying, "peeth out guys" is the best solution.sounds good to me! we shouldnt have been there to being with.
Did I say ANYTHING about Republicans? Why do you keep assuming I'm a Republican? Have I expressed support for John McCain? No. Did Bush II expand government? Yes. Do I approve? No.HAHAH
the size of government has grown more under this Republican administration than any other administration in US history. I have to go to work right now but Drudgereport just had an article on it,I will put the link up when I get home tonight.
This notion that Dems will increase the size of gov't is an old Republican smear tactic but if you actually LOOK at the past, youll see Republicans loove big government,.They love to tell women what they can and cant do with thier own bodies,Republicans loove to tell society who can and cant get married...dont be fooled, your good old boy Republicans love big Government too, they dont fight for power to get less of it.
While you were pointing out my supposed smear tactic, you neglected to actually give me any evidence that my summary of Obama's policies is incorrect. I got the info from his website. And since there is no evidence, I'm right. Obama will inflate the budget, inflate the debt and inflate the government even further than Bush has managed to do in eight years.
I am not trying to pick a Repub vs Dem fight. I'm independent. So unless you have a knowledgeable and evidence-supported rebuttal, that makes me right, and makes Obama a crappy candidate.
And Mort, McCain is a crappy candidate too. His fawning over "climate change" is annoying, and this Big Weather industry that Al Gore has set up will not fall because too many people are making too much money off of "going green" to let the truth be heard. I am ashamed of the corruption that has taken hold of both parties, and the government at large.
I'm moving to Belize.Jaleel White does not approve.

I'm running to Canada myself. Not as hot as Belize, but they got some damn good bacon up there, and peet boggs, and Celine Dion.
Until then, I gotta vote for somebody. It's sure as heck not going to be McCain.

I refuse to vote for McCain simply b/c I fear he will pass while in office, giving the torch to some Republican puppet set in intentionally as his VP.

05-16-2008 07:49 AM #228If Rev. Wright's words came out of Obama's mouth, then yes I wouldnt just gloss over it. However I dont think its fair to judge Obama based on someone elses words. Yes Wright his is pastor but that doesnt mean Obama agrees with everything he says, thats ridiculous.I think I find it interesting that in a day and age when tolerance and Political Correctness is the pillars of a "progressive" worldview that this issue is just glossed over with you. If the shoe was on the other foot it would be unacceptable why is it ok for Obama?
First of all,Obama is half WHITE and half black, so any anti-white garbage that Wright spews is obviously not of Obama's opinion. I think that goes without saying.
Secondly, I have a friend,a close friend that I have known since 6th grade, and guess what, this guy is a bigot against ASIANS and admits it. I still have love for him as a friend but I dont agree with his ignornace,in fact Im completely opposite when it comes to Asians,I love thier culture, food *coughand thier womencough* lol
. So I can relate to Obama in the sense that just because you have love for someone doesnt mean you automatically agree and take on all thier opinions as your own.
perhaps thats why I seem to give this Wright thing more of a pass,I dunno. Now if Obama starts to spew the same hate speech as Wright,I wont gloss over it,in fact he would lose my vote in Nov.

05-16-2008 08:16 AM #229hmm well lets see, you had nothing but praise for Bush during his tenure as president,I remember the discussions we used to have on here back in 2004 and you were far from critical of Bush at that point at least. You never seem to support any of the Democrats or the liberal policies and the policies you attack McCain on seem to always be his "liberal" stances on things like the enviroment. Why do you keep assuming I'm a Republican? Have I expressed support for John McCain? No
So can you kinda see why I thought you were a Republican? but if your not,and your actually Independent, more power to ya! So just curious, if you could choose one Democrat (anyone you wish, even if they are not running),who would YOU pick?
