And, again, with the highway patrolmen, you have a greater variance in regards to enforcement since it's left up to human judgement.
And also we don't live in a police state. Simple, honest, non-misdemeanor reasons can be the cause of the Terror on the Highways that is mini-van foing 60 in a 55. The government knows that and provides allowances. The point of a speed limit is not to restrictively hold someone to a speed limit and even if you're a teeny tiny bit over it, you get a ticket. It's to keep it to a certain level of speed. BUT, a number has to be used. You can't give a legal definition that a speed limit would be "fast, but not too fast." A number is defining what the limit is on that road. It's not there to punish people going 1 mph over that limit.
You really have been pulled over and issued a speeding ticket for going 61 in a 60 zone???? I find that extremely hard to believe!

You honestly don't think some bored highway patrolman has ever issued a ticket for one MPH over the speed limit? Or that racial/age profiling exists?

The first page of google results for the keywords: ticket one MPH over limit had this:

    http://www.godlikeproductions.com/fo...sage506189/pg1

It happens. It shouldn't if speeding up to 10 MPH over the limit is socially acceptable.

I have pretty young female friends who've gotten out of EVERY single speeding ticket because they flirted with the cop that pulled them over. How's that fair?

5 mph over the speed limit is not acting inapproprietly.

Besides which, I have never argued against traffic court. Not once. So, I don't get what you're getting at. You want to take your ticket to court, do so.
Please re-read the post I was responding to of yours. You're comment "Could it be because he already knows he did something wrong?" just really smacks of guilty until proven innocent.

No, it doesn't. Not as a matter of course. Not as a matter of law. You want to find an example of anything, google will do it for you. But I guarantee you the judge threw it out as soon as he saw it. And if he didn't, HE should be tossed. That is a tremendous waste of time and resources. If it does happen as a matter of course, then the cams wouldn't be set at 11mph over the limit. The public didn't set the cam. The speeding maniac drivers didn't set the cam. The government did.

I'm sorry. I thought the quotes would help. :shrugs:

Yea, I have no idea where I got the notion that a lecture was more important than the fine.

Whatever. I guess the other posts don't mean a thing. Only what you want to highlight.

Okay, I cited my source. And you disagree. So why don't you cite where he says a fine is more important than a lecture?

I didn't say "Cinder's delicious beverage". I was more thinking water.
